Jankos Fires Back At Evil Geniuses Inspired After Fourth Win At MSI 2022
Group C standings are skewed as ORDER loses its fourth game
Match 2 of the third day of MSI 2022 was between Group C teams G2 Esports and ORDER. But entering the matchup, G2 had the clear upper hand as the top runner of the group with a 3-0 record, whereas ORDER was at the bottom of the table. For the second time today, ORDER looked to pick up a win at MSI 2022 but G2 Esports rained on its parade, by securing its fourth win in 24 minutes.
Jankos hits back after Inspired’s comments about G2 Esports
In the post-game interview, Marcin "Jankos" Jankowski talked about how G2 Esports tackles “cheese picks” that its opponents lock-in. He said even if the opponents pull off cheese picks, G2 will win if it plays its game. He also stated that G2 expected ORDER to lock in Evelynn but it did not expect Zed and Tryndamere to show up in the draft. Talking about going up against Evil Geniuses (EG) and ORDER, Jankos commented that EG was getting better slowly since its shaky start to the tournament.
“It was rather expected that we would make it to the Rumble Stage. This is where the tournament really starts. I feel like the Group Stage is more of a for-fun thing where most of the top regions will make it out,” Jankos proclaimed.
After hearing that Kacper "Inspired" Słoma had called G2 as “caPs and four other players”, Jankos said that he does not mind that very much. He acknowledged that Rasmus "caPs" Borregaard Winther was G2’s star player and added, “If that’s how people see G2, I don’t have a problem with that because when I look at Evil Geniuses, I just don’t see anything.”
Coming back to the match between G2 Esports and ORDER, the takeaways for the Oceanic lineup were that it had a few highlight plays and pressured G2 Esports by picking up a few of the dragons and towers. ORDER also picked up multiple kills on Sergen "Broken Blade" Çelik, who was playing Gnar.
ORDER locked in Shane "Kevy" Allen’s infamous Evelynn pick, a champion that was perma-banned against him in the LCO. With an ability power (AP) champion in the jungle, ORDER had to play an attack-damage (AD) based champion in either top or mid, but the team locked in surprise picks like the Zed for Ronald "Kisee" Vo and Tryndamere in the top-lane for Brandon "BioPanther" Alexander.
G2 Esports’ early game was immaculate and it shut down the ORDER lineup completely. Jankos invaded Evelynn's jungle and killed her, proving that he is the First-Blood King on the rift.
ORDER strikes back briefly
Ian "Corporal" Pearse’s Nautilus finally paid off when he got a kill on Raphaël "Targamas" Crabbé’s Renata in a 2v2 in the bottom lane. However, soon after this, G2 Esports collapsed on the bot side of the map and killed Kevy and Corporal. In another cross-map play, G2 rotated all the way to the top side and invaded ORDER’s jungle. Rasmus "caPs" Borregaard Winther showed off his moves on leBlanc as he killed Kisee under his own tower. Meanwhile, G2 Esports demolished two towers on the top lane.
G2 dominates the Rift
At 15 minutes in-game, G2 Esports had complete control of the map and was up ahead by 6K gold. Victor "Flakked" Lirola Tortosa Zeri was also equally lethal as he picked up a couple of kills for himself and stacked up items. After an isolated fight, G2 Esports secured the Baron Nashor buff at 22:36 minutes and extended the gold lead even further. At 24 minutes, G2 Esports was picking apart ORDER’s base turret after turret and ended the game at 24:27.
