Former KRU Esports Coach Allegedly Attempted to Fight Valorant Champions’ Security Staff

Former KRU Esports head coach Rodrigo “Onur” Dalmagro allegedly confronted security personnel at 2021’s Valorant Champions’ main event in Berlin last month. During a recent podcast Champions caster Mitch "MitchMan" McBride claimed that Riot officials had to put security in front of Onur’s door due to an altercation between the ex-KRU coach and security officials at the event.

What happened between Onur and Riot officials at Valorant Champions

MitchMan said during his podcast “He tried to fight them [Riot security officials] because he didn’t agree that he had to stay inside to isolate during the isolation. Again, none of this is gospel [and] take it with a pinch of salt, this is what I’ve heard people say.”

The Valorant community was recently left divided over Onur’s opinion on COVID vaccines. Onur was scheduled to meet Brazilian esports organization LOUD earlier this week but he did not have a vaccine passport which is leading to his deportation. Onur is not against vaccination but is against the idea of vaccine passports. It led to a heated conversation between community members with those who agree with him and those who don’t.

Following the controversy, LOUD seems to have backed out of the deal with Onur. Onur claimed that the Brazilian esports organization supported his stance and it was fully aware of his views against vaccine passports. But after public outrage, the organization has “chosen a different path.”

The claims by MitchMan are yet to be verified and it is unknown where Onur’s future lies. He posted on Twitter that he is now a free agent and is open to new opportunities. Despite his views, he was one of the most successful coaches in Valorant with a strong run at Valorant Champions with KRU Esports. The Latin America team managed to reach top four at Valorant Champions and fell short against Stage Two champions Gambit Esports.
