The MrBeast vs Ninja show match concluded on 9th July and drew in a variety of audiences.
Former League of Legends pro Doublelift, who took part in the event, claimed that Riot Games and the LCS blocked Bjergsen from participating in the event.

League of Legends fans did not miss any action this weekend despite both the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) and League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) being on a break. Fans were served entertainment, mechanical outplays, and esports-worthy content thanks to the MrBeast vs Ninja show match on 9th July at the HyperX Esports Arena in Las Vegas. Team Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson won the best-of-three series but Tyler "Ninja" Blevins and his team won a bonus match. Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng, who was in Team Ninja, revealed some spicy information about what happened behind the scenes.

Both MrBeast and Ninja’s teams were fully stacked with prominent streamers and a few veteran League of Legends players, but according to Doublelift, one of the team compositions was supposed to have been slightly different.

Doublelift reveals that Bjergsen was scouted for the show match

On his livestream, Doublelift revealed that Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg was originally meant to be a part of MrBeast’s team in the Ultimate Crown event but it was stopped by Riot Games and the LCS. Additionally, Doublelift pointed out how the company and the league potentially missed out on a big marketing move.

Doublelift said, “It’s basically confirmed, right? I heard from so many people that Riot blocked Bjergsen from participating.” When someone in the background called out to him, he added that he had to address it since it is “so stupid.

In true Doublelift fashion, he said, “Look, guys. LCS is dying. The viewership is absolutely dying. There’s no denying it. Everyone knows it. Everyone can feel it.” He then wondered why Riot and the LCS would not let a player like Bjergsen, whom Doublelift called the “face of the league”, play in an event with two of the biggest content creators in the world.

He stated that the LCS could not pay enough for someone like MrBeast to include one LCS player in an event that is watched by a different audience pool with so many young and impressionable people.

Doublelift claimed that the LCS could have benefited greatly by permitting Bjergsen to be a part of the MrBeast vs Ninja Ultimate Crown event and that it would have helped the LCS viewership as well.

According to TwitchTracker, the MrBeast vs Ninja show match drew in 69,508 viewers on average. Meanwhile, Bjergsen has not commented on this situation yet but has liked Travis Gafford’s tweet about it.
