CaptainFlowers talked about how North America (NA) finally has two new winners in back-to-back splits after 2013.
He also spoke about how inspirational Evil Geniuses’ victory is to the young players in the region of North America.
EG will be hoping to continue its momentum and claim the MSI 2022 victory next month.

The North American (NA) region is still not over Evil Geniuses’ successful run at the 2022 League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) Spring Split. At the beginning of the split, people were confident that either Cloud9, Team Liquid, or the previous split winners ,100 Thieves, would win the 2022 Spring Split. But, out of the blue, Evil Geniuses (EG) came out on top of all these teams with a lineup that has two young NA players. In an interview with Travis Gafford, League of Legends caster Clayton “CaptainFlowers” Raines discussed how iconic the finals week was at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas and he also talked about why having new winners in the LCS is important.

CaptainFlowers on the 2022 LCS Spring finals and EG’s victory

CaptainFlowers proclaimed that this year’s LCS final event “has been the coolest” one so far and stated that Riot Games went all out with the fanfare, the fireworks, and everything. He said, “Before times, after times, whatever you want to call it. This one has just been incredible.” CaptainFlowers also added that the fact that the casters got to cast the games from an elevated position on top of the players was “immaculate.

Commenting on EG’s victory, CaptainFlowers remarked, “I think it is awesome for the LCS. This is the sixth team to ever win the LCS title.” Interestingly, CaptainFlowers pointed out that the last time the LCS had new winners back-to-back was in 2013 when Team SoloMid (TSM) and Cloud9 won. “I was not gonna say this on cast ‘cuz it’s a little BM (Bad Manners) but watching EG versus TL and 100 Thieves. It looked like an international team beating on NA at Worlds or something,” he said.

EG’s exciting playstyle

Another important aspect that CaptainFlowers talked about was EG’s exciting playstyle and that he cannot wait to see what the team goes on to do. He said, “They’re not playing any of this wussy, scale for late, hope that we can transition well, like no. They make proactive plays, they trust each other, they cover each other.

CaptainFlowers was also seemingly hyped while talking about NA players Joseph "jojopyun" Joon Pyun and Kyle "Danny" Sakamaki. He said, “Jojo and Danny - the guys who are all the hype, they’re NA young talent and they can’t go back to their home region after they pop off, motherf****. This is their home region.

He spoke about how EG, with young NA players, defeating teams like Team Liquid and Cloud9 is very motivational for the up-and-coming talent from NA. “Even if that doesn’t light a fire under the ass of current players, the next generation, the guys that are currently trying to grind in Challenger, or the guys that aspired to be on these teams, and the guys in the talent development pipeline - This is there to show you, ‘Hey, you can do it!

EG will be going up against G2 Esports and ORDER in Group C in the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) which is scheduled to begin on 10th May.
