Axie Infinity Origin Official Release Date and Gameplay

Axie Infinity: Origin will be officially released on April 7th, 2022 via Mavis Hub. This is the latest game to be released as part of the Axie Universe and was announced by Sky Mavis on Axie Infinity’s social media pages along with a gameplay trailer. The release of Axie Origin was expected to be delayed due to a recent hack on the blockchain network Ronin which resulted in about $600 Million USD worth of cryptocurrency being stolen. However, the developers have now confirmed the release date along with new gameplay features and mechanics.

Axie Infinity: Origin New Gameplay Reveal

The official gameplay trailer of Axie Origin reveals three free starter Axies for all players, along with new game mechanics. This means that players can now try the game for free without having to buy Axies from the marketplace.

The initial announcement via the Lunacian detailed various new features.

Axies will execute their attacks immediately when cards are played. Instead of choosing their cards at the beginning of a round, in Axie Origin, players will take sequential turns to use their cards. This is expected to make the Axie Infinity gameplay more fast-paced and engaging.

Additionally, there will be many new mechanics around retaining and acquiring energy/cards since unused cards will no longer carry over across turns.

Axie Infinity: Origin also revealed various new cards for the Tail, Back, Mouth, Horn and Ear, although some of these are just upgrades or adjustments from their previous versions in order to fit the new game mechanics. This is also the first time that an Eye part will have its own cards.

Is Axie Infinity: Origin release delayed?

Following a major security breach on the Ronin network that was announced on March 30th, 2022, the release of Axie Infinity: Origin was expected to be delayed. Ronin is an Ethereum-linked sidechain made specifically for Axie Infinity. ‘Pixie’, who is a moderator of the official Axie Infinity Discord server, mentioned that the game’s release will likely be postponed until the issue is resolved. However, fans of the game can now rest easy since Sky Mavis has announced that Axie Origin will release on April 7th, 2022.
