A bizarre bug was preventing Apex Legends players from getting three items in their Apex packs.
Respawn Entertainment has deployed a fix to address the issue and affected players will be compensated.
Despite claims by some players, heirloom shards have not been affected by the new bug.

Apex Legends Season 10 is approaching fast but there is a new bug that has upset a lot of players who are participating in the ongoing Thrillseekers event leading up to the next season. Apex packs earned since the Thrillseekers patch went live are bugged and there are players who have not been receiving three items as drops from each pack. However, it turns out that the packs that were dropping from levelling up or from challenges for players actually contain items that are not available in the game yet. There is currently no way to see what you received if you open a bugged pack with a missing item or two but Respawn has promised that the missing items will be delivered in patch 10.0.

Why is the new bug occurring

It looks like Respawn Entertainment accidentally added future items that are not available in the current patch to the drops pool. Since the drops are server-side and the items are not available in the game client for players, they simply do not show up. Many players said that they not only ran into these bugged Apex Packs but they also ended up getting server errors.

The server errors specify that “Some items in the Apex Pack have not been authored in the game yet.” Players speculated that the missing cosmetics could be for Seer or the upcoming Rampage LMG which are not available in the game yet. However, it turns out that they were Lifeline trackers that were not added to the game. Respawn confirmed this and has issued a fix.

Respawn will offer free packs to affected users

Respawn said that it identified the issue and a fix has already been deployed. It stated “This was caused by a new Lifeline tracker being configured to drop in Apex packs too early. Affected players will be granted a make-good pack and will find the tracker in their inventory after the 10.0 update.”

The company also confirmed that heirloom shards were not affected by the bug and there have been instances of players circulating fake images of missing heirloom shards. The 10.0 update will go live on 2 August, 2021 along with Apex Legends Season 10 and the missing items will be added to player inventories along with compensation packs for affected players.
