  • The Call of Duty League will officially only be played on PC with controllers in the 2021 season.
  • Cross play has been added to the developmental Call of Duty Challengers league.

Activision has just announced that the Call of Duty League will be officially transitioning to PC for the 2021 season. However, there is a catch. Players cannot use a Keyboard+Mouse to compete in it, they will need to use a League-approved controller of their choice.

“Today, the League is announcing it will move pro team competition to PC + Controller beginning with the 2021 season”, read the official statement from the Call of Duty League, “This means that all pro matches will be played on PC and all pro players must use a League-approved controller of their choice.”

The league also stated that these changes will “provide players with expanded choice of controller.” which will work best for their game.

Cross-play Will Be Allowed on Call of Duty Challengers

In a historic move, the Call of Duty League has announced that cross-play will be added to the Call of Duty Challengers 2020 (the path to the pro circuit of the Call of Duty League). Players can now compete in this tournament using their PCs or their consoles.

However, controllers will still be required in Challengers, and mouse and keyboard peripherals “will not be allowed.” It was also mentioned that all LAN events played through the Challengers season will be played on PC.

The Call of Duty League also confirmed that more details and rules pertaining to peripherals will be released at a future date.
