Highlights
Overwatch 2 does not have any official open betas announced by Blizzard Entertainment.
There is a closed beta that is ongoing and players who have registered now have access to it.
Purchasing the Watchpoint Pack for $40 will also grant access to the beta.

Overwatch 2 may not officially get an open beta according to the information available so far. Even if there is an open beta in the future, Activision Blizzard is yet to reveal a release date. However, players were allowed to sign up for a beta until 28th June and many have received access to the game.

There may be more betas in the future along with Twitch beta key drops which could potentially give interested players a chance to try out the game. The only guaranteed way to get access to the beta right now is by purchasing the Watchpoint Pack which costs $39.99 and it includes guaranteed beta access.

How to get access to the Overwatch 2 beta

Overwatch 2’s beta signups are closed and unlike the previous time, Blizzard is not giving access to the game via Twitch. The only way to get access to Overwatch 2’s ongoing beta is by purchasing the Watchpoint pack which includes:

  • Season 1’s Premium battle Pass

  • 2x Space Raider Hero Skins

  • 2000 Overwatch Virtual Currency

  • Overwatch Legendary Edition

The virtual currency can be used to purchase cosmetics and the battle pass. Blizzard has confirmed that the first three battle passes for Season 1 to Season 3 will cost 1000 virtual currency each. Along with all of these items, players will also get immediate access to the Overwatch 2 beta that commenced on 28th June.

Overwatch Legendary Edition is also included in the bundle and it gives access to the following skins:

  • Security Chief Pharah

  • Strike Commander Morrison Soldier: 76

  • Slipstream Tracer

  • Blackwatch Reyes Reaper

  • Overgrown Bastion

  • Okami Hanzo

  • Valkyrie Mercy

  • Police Officer D.Va

  • Mystery Man McCree

  • Fool Junkrat

Do note that you will not receive continuous access to the beta. The ongoing beta is expected to end in week two or week three of July. Once the beta ends, there is no official word on whether the game will have more betas before its official launch on 4th October. Paying for the beta might not be worth it if you do not want the cosmetics and digital currency that comes with the Watchpoint Pack. Overwatch 2 is a free-to-play title and you do not need to make any purchases to play the game after launch.
