Overwatch 2 players can sometimes run into some bugs or glitches. A liveservice game with several patches being uploaded over its lifetime may cause some bugs. More recently, Overwatch players have reported encountering a Overwatch Hero Customization bug that is causing an error message to appear at the start of a match. Blizzard is currently looking into the bug. Here is all we know about the Overwatch Hero Customization Bug.

Overwatch Hero Customization Bug: What does it look like?

Overwatch players started to encounter the bug after the latest patch of the game went live. When you encounter the bug you will see a purple prompt appear in your chat box during the hero selection screen before a match. The prompt reads “Some of your hero customization is unavailable” and some players report the bug preventing them from selecting certain heroes in game.

How to fix the “Some of your hero customization is unavailable” error in Overwatch 2

The “Some of your hero customization is unavailable” error in Overwatch 2 seems to affect players who are using Mythic skins. Blizzard has already noticed the issue and is currently investigating and working on fixing it.  In an update on the Blizzard forums, the developers responded saying they are investigating the issue on 31st October, 2023. “We are investigating an issue where you may encounter the message “Some of your hero customization is unavailable in this instance” at the start of a game.”

For the time being, there are no clear solutions. Nevertheless, a fix should be available soon. However, there are a few things you can try to fix this error. You can try restarting Overwatch 2 and the Battle.net client. If you’re on a console like a PS5, try restarting the console.

Current issues being investigated by Blizzard are as follows:

  • Investigating an issue where rumble feedback may occur when allies use their abilities.

  • Investigating an issue where the Trials of Sanctuary Seasonal Challenges since the October 31st update are not being granted.

  • Investigating an issue with sprays not unlocking when claiming the appropriate Twitch Drops for the Overwatch World Cup.

  • Investigating an issue where you may not be able to access the in-game shop without first entering a match in any game mode.

  • Investigating an issue of current Halloween Terror event challenges completing based on activity from last year’s event.

  • Investigating an issue where a completed match may be marked as “Abandoned” in the Match History of the Career Profile.
