Valve Reportedly Lays Out Conditions For Resuming EEU DPC 2021-22 Season

The Eastern Europe (EEU) Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2021-22 Tour 2, which was originally scheduled to start in the second week of March, was postponed indefinitely in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Many fans expressed concerns that the region, which has been shaping into a dominant force in the competitive Dota 2 scene, may just wither out. As an update on this situation, Valve has reportedly explained to the teams from Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus the conditions under which it would resume the DPC-League in Eastern Europe.

Conditions for resuming EEU DPC 2021-22 Season Tour

In order to resume the circuit, Dota 2 publisher and developer Valve asked the teams and organizations for assurances on several fronts. They were as follows:

• A confirmation that teams will be able to play official games at any time in the future.

• Teams will be able to obtain visas for their respective players and attend the major in Stockholm.

• Teams will be able to receive the prize money from the organizer and dispatch them to their players.

Valve reportedly pointed out that the clubs from Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus may face difficulties in complying with the conditions stated above and that it was not ready to resume the league in the presence of such risks. Valve clearly stated that it does not want to continue with the tour if these teams are unable to participate or attend the major in Stockholm.

A representative of Valve reportedly asked each organization to describe their current situation. After assessing the current state of these organizations, the company will take a call on whether or not to resume the league in its current format. Additionally, if any club fails to send a letter to Valve, then it cannot guarantee the participation of the team in the tournament.

Another report stated that if continuing the league in the same format is not possible, then Valve would have to look out for other options for the competition.

Valve also reportedly added that it cannot sign a contract with a new tournament organizer, that will run the league in place of Epic Esports Events via EPICENTER, until it can narrow down on exact dates, and the format of the league.
