Yatoro and Ame are finalists at the Esports Awards 2021

Ame was named one of the finalists for the "Esports PC Player of the Year" in a tweet by Esports Awards on 1st Oct 2021.

Below is the full list of finalists.

  • Dmitry "sh1ro" Sokolov (CS:GO)

  • Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev (CS:GO)

  • Tyson "TenZ" Ngo (Valorant)

  • Jae-won "LIP" Lee (Overwatch)

  • Luccas "Paluh" Vinicius Molina (Rainbow 6)

  • Wang "Ame" Chunyu (Dota 2)

  • Heo "ShowMaker" Su (LOL)

  • Kim "Doinb" Tae-sang (LOL)

  • Ayaz "nAts" Akhmetshin (Valorant)

Ame had a very prosperous year in 2021 playing for PSG.LGD. As a team, they began slowly by finishing fourth in the first regional league before dominating their opponents in their subsequent Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) events. PSG.LGD finished third at the Singapore Major 2021, second in the second season of the regional league, and first at the WePlay AniMajor. PSG.LGD was able to secure a spot at TI10 based on DPC points thanks to these strong performances. While Ame and his teammates dominated their opponents throughout TI10, they weren't able to close it out as they lost to Team Spirit in the final.

In TI10, as well as throughout the year, Ame's farming skills, decision-making ability, and consistency were heavily praised.

Yatoro, meanwhile, was nominated as a finalist for the "Esports PC Rookie of the Year" award only recently. The list, which was originally released on 1st Oct 2021, did not have Yatoro as a finalist, and it is likely that the player's win at TI10 influenced the decision.

Here is the full list of finalists in this category:

  1. Ayaz "nAts" Akhmetshin (Valorant)

  2. Robin "Robinsongz" Sung (Teamfight Tactics)

  3. Tyson "TenZ" Ngo (Valorant)

  4. Adam "Adam" Maanane (LOL)

  5. Kyle "Danny" Sakamaki (LOL)

  6. Dmitry "sh1ro" Sokolov (CS:GO)

  7. Javier "Elyoya" Prades Batalla (LOL)

  8. Se-hyun "Pelican" Oh (Overwatch)

  9. Valerii "b1t" Vakhovskyi (CS:GO)

  10. Peter "Asuna" Mazuryk (Valorant)

  11. Illya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk (Dota 2)

Yatoro had mixed results with Team Spirit in DPC 2021 before TI10. Although the team failed to qualify for the first Major, it recovered its bearings to qualify for the second, where it finished 7th-8th. To reach TI10, the team had to compete in the regional qualifier. As underdogs at TI10, Team Spirit defeated the heavy favorites one by one in a spectacular lower bracket run to win the Aegis of Champions. Yatoro and his teammates won $18,208,300 USD as a result of this win.

Team Spirit's TI10 winning moment

At TI10, Yatoro was commended for his hero versatility and consistency. At 18 years old, he was the youngest player at TI10.
