Virtus.pro completes its Dota 2 roster with yamich and appoints gpk as its new captain for DPC 2021-22

“Daniyal “yamich” Lazebnyy, who last played for Winstrike, is joining Virtus.pro Dota 2 roster. He will be taking over his usual role of position 4,” wrote the organization in the blog post on its website.

Virtus.pro’s revamped Dota 2 roster for the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2021-22 consists of the following players:

  1. Ivan "Pure" Moskalenko

  2. Danil "gpk" Skutin

  3. Dmitry "DM" Dorokhin

  4. Danial "yamich" Lazebnyy

  5. Illias "Kingslayer" Ganeev

  • Vitaly “Save-” Melnik (inactive)

  • Anatoly “boolk” Ivanon (coach)

Virtus.pro has once again made an effort to assemble a young lineup after having played with one in the past season. With an average age of just 19.4, the oldest member of this roster is DM at 21 years old, and the youngest is Pure at just 17 years old.

Virtus.pro's CEO, Sergey Glamazda, explained how they selected Yamich as their new position four player.

“We are constantly keeping tabs on promising young players. Daniyal has been showing consistent progress for the past several years, that’s why when we faced the necessity of a roster change, his candidature was brought up. We discussed the possibility of inviting him to the test games, and his organization agreed. The plan was to buy him out if the roster was to show the real potential.

During the test games yamich did a phenomenal job. He was proactive and the team really liked playing with him. On top of that, he’s not a rookie on the pro scene, has good mechanical skills and fits our team’s playstyle.”

Also, Yamich expressed his feelings about joining Virtus.pro, stating that his hard work had finally paid off as he now has the chance to play with highly skilled players. The fact that yamich has been playing competitive Dota 2 for the last four to five years means that even though he might be young, he has some experience under his belt. As a member of Winstrike Team, he competed in the last DPC season where his team showed great potential but sadly did not produce any substantial result.

Virtus.pro also announced that gpk will be the captain of the new squad. During the past season, much of the drafting and shot-calling in the game was either handled by captain Save- or safelaner, Egor "Nightfall" Grigorenko, who has joined Evil Geniuses.

Virtus.pro's new roster has already begun bootcamping in preparation for the DPC 2021-22. The team had a fantastic last season, coming out on top in both regional leagues. The team did poorly at the Majors and delivered underwhelming performances, but at their first TI, they performed well and finished 5th-6th. As a result, the bar will be set high for this new team, and it will be interesting to see how they perform during the Eastern European Tour 1.
