There may not have been much action on the roster change front in the Chinese region, but things are starting to fall into place. The Chinese powerhouse squad Vici Gaming has unveiled a new lineup composed of young players for the upcoming Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2021 after its long-standing midlane player Zeng "Ori" Jiaoyang was transferred to Team Aster. Among the roster that competed at The International 10 (TI10), Yang "poyoyo" Shaohan, the safelaner, is the only one to remain with Vici Gaming. The organization has also appointed a new coach.

Vici Gaming welcomes four new players to the roster after Ori leaves for Team Aster

Vici Gaming announced on Weibo that Ori had been transferred to Team Aster after full communication with the players and Ori's consent. Having joined the organization back in Jan 2017 as a rookie, the player spent nearly five years with the team, building a solid reputation as a midlaner in the region. The player placed in the top three of several international tournaments and won Majors. In addition, Vici Gaming also fared well at the recently concluded TI10, finishing 5th-6th.

In a separate post on Weibo, Vici Gaming announced its new lineup for the DPC 2021-22 just a few hours after Ori's transfer to Team Aster.

  • Yang "poyoyo" Shaohan

  • Guo "Xm" Hongcheng

  • Li "Irving" Jian

  • Zhao "Yds." Jiayi

  • Chen "Victoria" Guanhong (captain)

  • Wang "Liekkas" Yutian (coach)

Poyoyo, who joined Vici Gaming as a young carry player in late 2020, continues to be a member of the team. Though there were reservations about the player's performances at the highest level, he has shown himself to be a very capable and consistent player.

Last season, Xm played for EHOME in DPC 2021 and is part of the new wave of midlaners in the region. As the player did not qualify for either Majors or TI, he did not have a productive season with EHOME.

Irving is another inexperienced player at the highest level who most recently played for LBZS in the DPC's Lower Division. Previously, he held the #2 position on the Chinese MMR Leaderboards for a significant time.

Yds. and Victoria played for CDEC in the last season. Yds. began his playing career with the youth squad of the organization, VG.Potential. Victoria, on the other hand, is the team's most experienced player and will serve as the captain. Victoria’s most successful period was with LGD Gaming from 2016 to 2017, when he participated in top international events and placed fourth at TI7. Among his teammates at TI7 were renowned Dota 2 players Wang "Ame" Chunyu and Lu "Somnus丶M" Yao.

Vici Gaming will now be coached by Liekkas, who previously coached Yds. and Victoria at CDEC. As the new coach, Liekkas replaces Lu "Fenrir" Chao, who has taken a break, and assistant coach, Yao "QQQ" Yi, who left after his loan period ended.

Vici Gaming's new lineup has an average age of just 22.8 and it will be interesting to see if it can replicate the success of past lineups. The team will compete in the Upper Division of the Chinese league in the DPC 2021-22.
