TSM and Its Dota 2 Team Donate to Ukraine Relief Fund

North American esports organization, TSM, and its Dota 2 team joined forces for donations to aid in the relief efforts for Ukraine, which is currently under attack from Russia. As the organization announced on Twitter, its Dota 2 team expressed the desire to donate the entirety of its prize money from the Gamers Galaxy: Dota 2 Invitational Series Dubai 2022 to the relief efforts in Ukraine. This led TSM to match the contribution of its Dota 2 team and donate a total of $16,350 USD to the international humanitarian organization CARE's Ukraine crisis fund.

“Our DOTA 2 team have recently expressed the desire to donate their most recent tournament winnings to relief for the people of Ukraine,” TSM announced on Twitter. As part of the Gamers Galaxy: Dota 2 Invitational Series Dubai 2022 tournament, the organization's Dota 2 team won around $8,175 in prize money as a result of its 7th-8th finish. The organization gave an additional $8,175 on top of this to total $16,350 in donations for the relief efforts in Ukraine.

The money was donated to CARE's Ukraine crisis fund which is aimed at reaching four million people affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine through help from society.

Commenting on his teams' support for the Ukraine crisis, David "MoonMeander" Tan Boon Yang, TSM's Dota 2 captain, tweeted that he had been to Ukraine multiple times for tournaments and the people he met over there were "nothing short of amazing."

Previously, Team Spirit, announced that its Ukrainian position four player Miroslaw "Mira" Kolpakov would not be able to compete in the Gamers Galaxy: Dota 2 Invitational Series Dubai 2022. The team also mentioned that it would donate the entire prize money from the event to the International Red Cross Movement. This team is currently in the lower bracket of the event and is guaranteed a fourth-place finish that will bring them $21,800 USD.

Popular Ukrainian CS:GO player Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev, who has called for peace and an end to the war, recently donated 1,000,000 UAH (around $33,000 USD) to the Ukrainian army.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began on 24th Feb, has prompted a number of esports organizations from across the world to express support for Ukraine - through statements, speeches, and sanctions against Russian teams and organizations.
