TORONTOTOKYO Talks About Why He All Chats in Pro Dota 2

Alexander "TORONTOTOKYO" Khertek, the reigning International 10 (TI10) champion, has not only become known for being a strong midlane player, but also as a player who banters with the opposing team using all chat. In recent months, this topic has been the subject of much discussion. In a recent Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) post-match winner's interview, TORONTOTOKYO, elaborated on his opinion on all chatting in Dota 2 pro games. TORONTOTOKYO had the view that any player could all chat as long as they are enjoying themselves because fun is the reason why players play Dota 2.

TORONTOTOKYO states that all chatting in official games is not personal

Even before Team Spirit won TI10 ,TORONTOTOKYO received a lot of attention during the even for his famous "Ez game," in which Team Spirit eliminated the defending champions OG in the lower bracket.

On 9th January, in the first game of the series against NAVI, TORONTOTOKYO once again took to all chat to write, “Tip me, guys,” after Team Spirit had pulled off a huge teamfight victory. This was likely in response to the tips NAVI members had given TORONTOKYO at the start of the game.

After Team Spirit won the series with a 2-1 scoreline, TORONTOTOKYO provided his insight on all chatting in games . While he discussed the fun aspect, he also clarified that there was nothing personal at stake when he communicated his feelings through all chat.

“I think whoever can all chat or do whatever he wants, we are all just enjoying the game and we are having fun,” he said. “I think if you are not having fun, why are you playing Dota? So, if you feel like you want to all chat or something like that, you should do it. But nothing personal against players.”

In the past few months, a number of moments have been witnessed in various regions with regards to players using all chat. Receiving mixed reactions, all chat in limited quantities has been proclaimed to be healthy and fun by some, while others have said that it disrespects the opponents.

As far as the Dota 2 results are concerned, Team Spirit has continued to be a force to be reckoned with, having five straight series wins in the DPC 2021-22. The team has, however, had some tough games, particularly against NAVI and PuckChamp, where it has had to fight for the wins. To illustrate the competitive nature of the Eastern European (EEU) region, TORONTOKYO made an interesting comment in the post-match winner's interview.

“I think in the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) region we can have close games against any team. But it’s harder to win in the CIS than TI, you know,” he said with a chuckle.

Team Spirit’s next series in the DPC will be against HellRaisers on 16th Jan. A win in this series will guarantee the team a spot in the first Major of the season.
