In a piece of very shocking news, TNC Predator, one of Southeast Asia's (SEA) leading Dota 2 organizations, has decided to cut ties with all five of its Dota 2 players who were recently placed on inactive status. All five of these players will become free agents on 15th Sept, 2021, TNC Predator announced on its social media handles. The organization says this decision was made after discussions with the players. In addition, on Tuesday, 14th Sept, 2021, the team will hold an exclusive interview on its Facebook page about this roster move. For the first time since 2016, TNC Predator will not field an active Dota 2 roster.

All TNC Predator players to become free agents

“It's been quite the journey these past three to four years. On September 15, 2021, TNC Predator will announce the free agency of its full roster,” announced the organization to the surprise of many.

TNC Predator’s roster at the time of writing this article is as follows:

  1. Kim "Gabbi" Villafuerte

  2. Armel Paul "Armel" Tabios

  3. Jun "Bok" Kanehara

  4. Timothy John "Tims" Randrup

  5. Marvin "Boomy" Rushton

Coach, Chai "Mushi" Yee Fung, who was hired late in June 2021, was not mentioned in the announcement.

This roster update comes after TNC Predator made its entire roster inactive a couple of months ago. As the players went on a "much needed break," the organization had announced that they would be on a temporary break until the next TI season. Prior to this decision, TNC Predator had missed out on The International 10 (TI10) after losing to Fnatic 3-2 in the SEA qualifier. This was the first time since 2015 that the Filipino team had not made it to Dota 2’s grandest stage.

In 2019, Tims, who had been a member of the team since 2016, Gabbi, and Armel, who had been members of the team since 2018, won their first-ever Dota 2 major by winning MDL Chengdu Major. In their long careers with TNC Predator, this was the biggest achievement for these three players.

The duo of Bok and Boomy, who both joined TNC Predator in March 2021, helped the team finish second in the second season of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2021, then 7th-8th at the WePlay AniMajor.

Whether TNC Predator will hire a new Dota 2 team or where these players will go remains to be seen. More information about this roster update is likely to be disclosed in the 5:00 PM SGT interview on 14th Sept, 2021, You can watch it live on Facebook at TNC Pro Team - Dota 2.
