Team Secret's Dota 2 roster and Sumail have parted ways with each other
Puppey acknowledge that the current roster always had issues, before wishing Sumail all the best.
Prior to this, Secret had only 70 DPC points this season and they will now be penalized 10.5 on account of the change, putting them in danger of missing a direct invite to TI 11.

Team Secret has announced that Syed Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan will no longer be part of its Dota 2 roster. The announcement was followed up by a statement from the team’s captain Clement "Puppey" Ivanov, who wished him all the best and stated that this iteration of Team Secret always had issues. Sumail joined Team Secret as its mid-laner shortly after The International 10 but after a disappointing performance in the DPC 2021/2022 Tour 1, he swapped roles with Michał "Nisha" Jankowski to play carry. Earlier this month, Sumail had stated that he was leaning towards returning to the mid lane once again.

Puppey Talks About Team Secret’s Roster Change

Following the announcement of Sumail’s departure from Team Secret’s Dota 2 roster, Puppey issued a statement of his own on Twitter.

“This iteration of Team Secret has always had issues. We were trying to solve problems with role swapping or finding a better philosophy to play the game, but ultimately we couldn’t achieve consistency and fell flat,” said Puppey, “when things don’t work out, it’s best to just move on. Change is a reliable pursuit towards progress. No hard feelings.”

He concluded by acknowledging that he was sad about being unable to achieve success with the erstwhile roster and wished Sumail all the best. At the time of writing this story, Sumail has not issued a statement of his own.

Team Secret had failed to finish in the top four of the DPC WEU 2021/2022 Tour 2, resulting in them failing to qualify for the ESL One Stockholm 2022 Major. Prior to Sumail’s departure from the Dota 2 squad, Team Secret had only 70 DPC points this season and was in danger of missing out on a direct invite to The International 11. They will now be penalized 10.5 DPC points (15%) for this roster change, which puts them in an even tighter spot.

Team Secret’s current Dota 2 roster is as follows:

  • Michał "Nisha" Jankowski

  • Daryl Koh "iceiceice" Pei Xiang

  • Yazied "YapzOr" Jaradat

  • Clement "Puppey" Ivanov

  • Lee "Heen" Seung Gon (Coach)
