The third day of the Riyadh Masters 2022 witnessed the conclusion of a top-drawer group stage among the world's best Dota 2 teams. As it now stands, the teams who will compete in the playoffs have been decided and at the same time, four teams - TSM, Team Liquid from Group A, and Tundra Esports and Deboosters from Group B - have unfortunately been eliminated from the Riyadh Masters 2022. PSG.LGD and Team Spirit, on the other hand, had strong showings on day 3 of the event, while Tundra Esports, who was playing with a stand-in, failed to show up yet again. Finally, OG and Team Secret emerged as the Group A and B winners, respectively.

Recap of day 3 of the Riyadh Masters 2022

Group A: OG secures the top seed while coin toss determines the second place

OG and TSM played their final group stage series, and OG picked up a convincing 2-0 victory to claim the top seed. OG's top seed was also made possible by Liquid's 1-1 draw with Royal Never Give Up (RNG) which resultingly was unable to match OG’s record.

Following Liquid's elimination on day 2, TSM became the second team to leave the group after losing to OG.

While OG took first place, RNG and Nigma Galaxy tied for second. While coin tosses are a very rare sight in pro Dota 2 games, the two teams had the option of opting out of tiebreakers, and since they chose to, the second seed had to be determined by flipping a coin. RNG won the coin toss and finished second, while Nigma came in third.

Here are the final standings of Group A of the Riyadh Masters.

Group B: Secret comes out on top while Spirit and PSG.LGD prevail over Tundra

Local favorites Deboosters' first series on the big arena against PSG.LGD kicked off Group B on day 3. Though Deboosters lost by a score of 2-0, its aggressive playstyle on heroes such as Pudge and Techies in game two made for great entertainment.

At the same time, Tundra Esports and Team Spirit faced off on the second livestream in a critical series for the two teams, but with the former playing with a stand-in and going for unconventional drafts like a carry Abaddon and Bounty Hunter, Spirit was able to take the series 2-0 with relative ease.

PSG.LGD then faced Tundra, and while Tundra gave glimmers of hope in the opening game, it was primarily a one-sided affair as PSG.LGD cruised to their second series win of the day. Back-to-back 2-0 losses for Tundra Esports spelled the end of its run at the Riyadh Masters 2022. The tournament also demonstrated how vital its offlaner Neta "33" Shapira is to the team since it appeared to be far from the great form it currently is in his absence.

Team Spirit was ultimately able to hand Secret its first loss of the event in the last series of the group stage by exploiting the team's Techies pick. Secret used a more typical approach in the second game, and while it took some time, it finally grabbed the win and finished with seven game victories and one defeat to take first place in Group B.

Here are the final standings of Group B of the Riyadh Masters 2022.

The final contenders in the race for the lion’s share of the $4 Million USD prize pool at the Riyadh Masters 2022 include PSG.LGD, Nigma Galaxy, RNG, Team Spirit, Team Secret, and OG. There has been some refreshing and competitive international LAN Dota 2 so far and the two day single elimination playoffs will likely crank up the intensity.
