OG’s CEO Invites Fly on Podcast With N0tail

Through a tweet, OG's CEO JMR Luna invited Tal "Fly" Aizik to the weekly podcast he hosts with Johan "N0tail" Sundstein titled 'OG's Monkey Business Show.’ The invitation is particularly interesting since Fly and N0tail have been rival competitors since they split up in 2018. The two players were close friends and long time teammates, best known for their time at OG before they parted ways in 2018. OG's Monkey Business Show has previously featured guest appearances from famous esports personalities, such as Sébastien "Ceb" Debs and Peter "ppd" Dager.

N0tail and Fly: What's the story?

Fly and N0tail were best friends from the early stages of their esports careers until 2018. They came together from Heroes of Newerth into Dota 2 in 2012, and played for Fnatic.EU until 2014. Having joined Team Secret in 2014, N0tail and Fly played there for a year before they were removed in 2015. For the first time in about five years, their paths diverged, as N0tail went to Cloud9, while Fly went to MeePwn'D and Complexity Gaming.

N0tail and Fly reunited and founded monkey business in August 2015, which then rebranded as OG a couple of months later. After middling results in their first three years, the two players finally hit their stride with OG as they won Valve's first Dota 2 Major, the Frankfurt Major in 2015. Despite being unable to match this success at The International (TI) events, the team continued its victory streak at Dota 2 Majors, winning The Manila Major in 2016, The Boston Major in 2016, and The Kiev Major in 2017.

It is an unprecedented development not only for the Dota 2 community but for N0tail as well. Fly and Gustav "s4" Magnusson left OG for Evil Geniuses just two months before TI8, leaving OG scrambling for players. While OG had to withdraw from the China Dota 2 Supermajor, the team managed to find players in time for TI8.

The lower bracket final at TI8 featured the showdown between N0tail's OG and Fly's Evil Geniuses. The series was a hard-fought one, headlined by an incredible comeback from OG in game three that saw it win 2-1. While Evil Geniuses finished in third place, OG went on to defeat PSG.LGD in the grand final to win TI8.

Since then, the two players have spent most of their careers with OG and Evil Geniuses only and any series that they have played against each other has been hyped and anticipated. N0tail is currently on a break from competitive Dota 2, sitting on OG's inactive roster, while Fly is reportedly coaching TSM.

N0tail and Fly played together in 1454 games in competitive Dota 2. They held the record for the most experienced player duo in competitive Dota 2 for a long time until it was broken by Team Aster's Ye "BoBoKa" Zhibiao (also known as "Borax") and Lin "Xxs" Jing on 28th Feb.

In light of all the history involved, it will be interesting to see if Fly joins JMR Luna and N0tail on the show. PPD was also on the podcast this past week and he too has had a history of engaging with Ceb and N0tail in Twitter banter. A variety of Dota 2 and esports topics are usually discussed on the podcast among the participants.
