OG Becomes First Team to Qualify for Stockholm Major

OG has booked itself a spot in the ESL One Stockholm Dota Major 2022 with a 2-0 victory over Brame Esports, becoming the first team to do so this Dota 2 Pro Circuit (DPC) season. The team currently has a 5-1 win-loss record in the DPC WEU 2021/2022 Tour 2: Division I and has hence guaranteed itself a Top 4 finish this season as well as at least 80 DPC points and $26K USD in prize money.

So far this season, OG has only dropped a series against Team Liquid and currently look like the most in-form team in the Western European region.

OG decimates Brame Esports to qualify for Stockholm Major

OG started off their series in dominant fashion, winning all three lanes and completely shutting down Brame Esports in the early stages of Game 1. Despite Brame Esports holding off OG’s high ground push for over 40 minutes, the latter just kept piling up the net worth difference by taking control of the map. OG claimed the victory after securing itself an overwhelming gold lead to teamwipe Brame with ease.

Game 2 was even more one-sided with OG simply outclassing Brame Esports once again in the early stages of the game. They won all three lanes and just snowballed to a 21-minute victory on the back of Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf’s Timbersaw who had an 8-0-5 KDA ratio.

In the post-game interview, Tommy "Taiga" Le said that OG is definitely not going to slack off despite already securing a spot in the major since a lot of DPC points were still at stake. “Entity you got to watch out,” he said. “Ammar is very hyped to play against Entity, our last opponents. He didn’t want to do today’s interview because he said that if we can beat Entity, he will do the next interview. He wants to beat his friends.”

Before the season started, in a conversation with AFK Gaming, Entity Gaming’s carry Remco "Crystallis" Arets said that he was really looking forward to playing against OG. “The only thing I care about is beating OG… Literally only OG. I care about winning against only OG and I don’t care about winning against any other team. I don’t give a shit. We can be 1-6 as long as we have won against OG, I’ll be happy,” he said.

OG’s final game of the season, against Entity Gaming, will take place on April 19th. It is going to be a spicy affair and we simply can’t wait to see how the series plays out and the repercussions it may have on the final standings of the DPC WEU 2021/2022 Tour 2: Division I.

The Stockholm Major is scheduled to take place from May 12-22 in the Hovet Arena. 18 teams were originally scheduled to compete in the tournament. However, with the lockdown situation in China and the Eastern European DPC being suspended, it is unlikely for the tournament to take place as planned.
