Team Aster has been making waves in the Berlin Major 2023 with Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan as a stand-in player. The team managed to perform well through the group stages and qualified for the lower bracket of the playoffs, where they faced TI10 champions, Team Spirit. In a remarkable performance, Team Aster won the game 2-0, eliminating Team Spirit from the tournament. SumaiL has been a crucial player for the team, delivering outstanding performances in most games. During the tournament, Johan "N0tail" Sundstein, who was present on the analyst panel, revealed what SumaiL had texted him after the game.
Sumail says he got revenge against Team Spirit
Before the game between Gaimin Gladiators and OG at the Berlin Major, the panel was discussing OG's past victories over Gaimin Gladiators, including the one at TI11, which eliminated them from the tournament. N0tail, who was present as an analyst on the panel, agreed that teams do remember past encounters and rivalries and revealed that SumaiL texted him that he got revenge after Aster’s win against Team Spirit in the lower bracket.
"You know what SumaiL texted me after he knocked out Spirit? He's like "Revenge bro", TI10 you know? People remember this when they go to bed every night. It's something that you'll never forget. So im sure Gaimin Gladiators doesn't want to lose another valve event to OG but at the same time it's not up to them," he said.
SumaiL was a part of OG's roster at TI10, along with N0tail, Sébastien "Ceb" Debs, Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen, and Martin "Saksa" Sazdov. Despite being one of the favorites to win the tournament, OG was knocked out by Team Spirit, who went on to win the championship. SumaiL's message to N0tail was essentially referring to the events of TI10 saying that he got 'revenge' against team spirit for knocking them out at the event.
N0tail's revelation about SumaiL's text message adds a new dimension to the narratives and rivalries present at the Berlin Major. As the tournament progresses, it will be interesting to see how these personal motivations and histories play out on the main stage.
