Iceiceice Talks About His Experience in Team Secret Following His Removal

Established offlaner, Daryl "iceiceice" Koh was recently in the spotlight as his current team, Team SMG, is ineligible to play in the upcoming TI11 South East Asia (SEA) Regional Qualifiers after not being able to register its newest roster in time. Following the drama, iceiceice decided to return to his home in Singapore and started streaming again on Twitch. During his stream, he answered many questions, including his time at Team Secret, where he predicted he would be replaced if the team did not qualify for the PGL Arlington Major.

Furthermore, he noted that he had communication issues with Bakyt “Zayac” Emilzhanov during the third tour of the Western Europe (WEU) Division I, when Yazied "YapzOr" Jaradat moved to the inactive roster due to health issues.

Iceiceice Explained His Experience With Team Secret

Established offlaner, Daryl "iceiceice" Koh was recently in the spotlight after his current team, Team SMG, failed to register its newest addition in time for the upcoming SEA Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) Regional Qualifiers, making Team SMG ineligible to participate in the regional qualifiers.

Due to this development , iceiceice returned to his home in Singapore and started to stream again on Twitch. During his stream earlier today, he decided to do an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session and answered some questions regarding his time with Team Secret, among other things. He stated that during the third tour of the Western Europe (WEU) Division I, he pretty much knew that he would be replaced if the team did not qualify for the PGL Arlington Major. “I mean, honestly I kind of knew that I’m gonna get kicked if we [Team Secret] didn’t make it to DPC Major, for Arlington. I mean, you just kinda have this feeling right?” said iceiceice when asked about his removal from the team.

Iceiceice further mentioned that the language barrier became a major issue when he got paired with the new recruit in the offlane, Bakyt “Zayac” Emilzhanov after Yazied "YapzOr" Jaradat decided to take an extended break following his health issues. “And….I would say that language issue would be the biggest factor to me at least, with Zayac” said iceiceice when he explained his problems with Zayac.

However, iceiceice does not seem to be bothered by the removal as he explains that he learned a lot while playing in the WEU region under the guidance of team captain, Clement "Puppey" Ivanov. “I mean, it was a good experience though, playing under Puppey. Kind of learned a lot from him. Not something that I mind, you know [his removal from Team Secret]. It’s like, it’s good to see what goes on, on this side of the world.” iceiceice explained as he spoke about his time under Puppey’s guidance.

Iceiceice also commented that this was the worst year in his life in Dota 2 terms. "Zero majors, zero TIs. Get kicked from a team, didn't even get to play the qualifier. Even in TI7 right? I got to play the qualifiers with Faceless and I made three majors. Worst Dota year," he said.

However, he was also relieved that the Dota year is coming to an end in two months and that he is healthy.

Despite the drama regarding Team SMG, the community hopes that iceiceice is able to attend TI11 as a guest panelist if Valve decides so , as TI11 will be played in his home country this year.
