Highlights
While the Lima Major will only begin next week, teams have started traveling to the South American country of Peru for the upcoming Major.
Geek Slate became the first team to have touched down in the country, most likely for bootcamp purposes.
Despite only recently returning to the competitive scene, Geek Slate performed above expectations to finish second in the regional league.

Southeast Asia’s (SEA) Geek Slate became the first team to touch down in Peru for the upcoming Lima Major. With the Major slowly approaching, some teams have begun preparing strategies for the upcoming trip by entering tournaments while others have begun their long trip to Peru. Geek Slate, or formerly known as Geek Fam by many within the community fell into the latter category.

Having recently made its return into the competitive Dota 2 scene, Geek Slate managed to secure its spot at the Major by finishing in second place in the SEA Dota Pro Circuit (DPC): Winter Tour.

Geek Slate first to arrive in Peru, more teams to arrive within the week

With their visas for the upcoming trip secured, Geek Slate wasted no time in traveling to the South American continent in preparation for the upcoming Lima Major in Peru. Due to Geek Slate being based in Malaysia, the team had to move fast since the flight alone will be at least 30 hours.

However, according to Twitter user @justopancho Geek Slate had safely arrived after enduring a long flight and had begun to make preparations for bootcamp as well as recovering from jet lag before the upcoming Major.

Geek Slate, also formerly known as Geek Fam before their recent partnership with Slate Esports, made its return into the Dota 2 competitive scene after a two-year hiatus. While the organization had to disband its roster in 2020 due to the pandemic, its newest roster saw its efforts bear fruit as the team managed to earn qualification for the Lima Major by finishing second in the first tour of the SEA DPC.

The team’s roster for the upcoming Major:

  1. Rolen "skem" Ong

  2. Joshua "Kokz" Maraño

  3. Nikko "Force" Bilocura

  4. Ravdan "NARMAN" Narmandakh

  5. Roger "Roddgeee" Tan

It is expected that other teams will soon follow suit in traveling to Lima, as a few teams are currently participating in other tournaments such as BTS Pro Series S14 & BetBoom Universe: Episode I - Comics Zone while others are resolving its player’s visa issues.
