Gaimin Gladiators’ Captain Aims for Top Three Finish at Lima Major
Gaimin Gladiators’ captain, Melchior "Seleri" Hillenkamp recently gave an interview where he discussed his team’s expectations, amongst other things, before their upcoming trip to Peru for the Lima Major.
While the team only made one single roster change during the off-season, it outperformed the likes of the TI11 (The International 2022) champion Tundra Esports as well as OG and finished in second place in the 2023 Western Europe Dota Pro Circuit (WEU DPC): Winter Tour.
“Our goal will be at least top 3” - Seleri on Gaimin Gladiators’ expectations for Lima Major
In a recent interview with Esportsheaven, Seleri talked about the team’s expectations ahead of their upcoming trip to Peru. He started off by talking about the team’s performance during the WEU DPC, saying that the team is constantly improving.
“I am very happy with our results with the roster so far, and we are learning and improving a lot so I'd rate it 8/10. The first boot camp has been very useful for us, even if you change just a few people you need to all get on the same page.” said Seleri.
When asked about his expectations of the team ahead of the upcoming Lima Major, the Dutch captain noted that he wanted to at least achieve a top three finish with the team at the Major as he thinks the team is capable of doing so. “Assuming all is well and safe in Lima, my expectation is always that we will keep improving and trying our best. But I know we are all confident and our goal will be top 3 at least.”
He then went on to talk about the addition of Quinn “Quinn'' Callahan to the roster following the departure of midlaner Miroslav "BOOM" Bičan to Team Secret. Seleri pointed out that Quinn showed great potential during his time in North America, which led to his recruitment into the team.
“We felt like we needed a change, I think Quinn is very different from BOOM in many aspects, so don’t want to go too much into detail. But one reason we invited Quinn was after Ace and I analyzed replays of potential mids we were interested in at TI. We saw how well he played and the potential that he already showed. If you would just look at recent placement you might think Quinn was washed, but if you looked at the gameplay you would see the opposite is true.”
Gaimin Gladiators was previously seen competing in the BetBoom Universe: Episode I - Comics Zone online tournament against the likes of Tundra Esports, Entity & Team Spirit. The team only managed to finish in third place after losing to Team Spirit in the lower bracket.
