Fly Explains His Decision To Pick Up SabeRLight- For Shopify Rebellion
Shopify Rebellion’s new captain and hard support player Tal "Fly" Aizik recently talked about the acquisition of Jonáš "SabeRLight-" Volek in his newest podcast. He and the majority of the former Evil Geniuses roster were previously expected by many to be competing under the name “Alameda 2018” for the upcoming season.
However, Fly and the rest were picked up by Canadian-based organization Shopify Rebellion just hours before the deadline for roster locks with SabeRLight- completing the roster as the team’s new offlaner.
Fly wanted to have a natural off-laner for the upcoming competitive season.
During the off-season, Fly has been spending his free time during the off-season by livestreaming on Twitch while occasionally doing his own podcast called “Fly And The Other Guy: A Dota-ish Podcast”. In the the newest episode of the podcast, Fly explained his decision to recruit former TSM off laner Jonáš "SabeRLight-" Volek amongst other things.
He started off by saying that SabeRLight-’s cheerful attitude can be a valuable asset to the team as he stated that a change of atmosphere within the team can help to improve them for the better.
“SabeRLight-’s a funny guy and I think that's something that will help our team lighten up the mood because truthfully that's something we don't always have on our team with the people that we have so somebody like that comes in and can lighten up the mood with just the way he is naturally I think that’s really helpful.”
He also added on by saying that he wanted to have a natural off-laner in the form of SabeRLight- for the upcoming competitive season, as opposed to having carry players transitioning into the off lane position.
“So that's the other thing about Saber, is that he is a natural off laner and this is something I wanted for this year for this roster. I wanted somebody who's a natural off laner, I didn't want to transition anymore carries or whatever to different roles because his hero pool is very wide he can play anything. That's very rare to find, by the way.”
The new Shopify Rebellion roster will be playing in the first division of the NA DPC league for the upcoming season as it retained the former EG DPC slot in the North American region.
