Evil Geniuses go 2-0 in the DPC 2021/22 Tour 3 tiebreakers to secure a place in the Arlington Dota 2 Major 2022.
The team beat Nouns in a straightforward victory and then emerged victorious after battling Quincy Crew in a back-and-forth marathon in the next game.
The Arlington Major is scheduled to be taking place from 4th to 14th August

After a shocking start to the North American Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2021/22 Tour 3 where Evil Geniuses dropped a series against Nouns, the team has managed to rebound and managed to secure the top spot in the regional league. The team had gone undefeated after its loss to Nouns, and it managed to keep that momentum going winning its two tiebreaker games and securing a place in the Arlington Major 2022.

After qualifying for the Major, EG’s captain Tal "Fly" Aizik was understandably elated. “From casting the last major, to finishing first in the DPC and getting to play the next major! LFG #EGWIN,” he tweeted.

Evil Geniuses are back to the top of North American Dota 2

After a disappointing showing at the ESL One Stockholm Major 2022 and the rise of TSM in the tournament, fans were beginning to speculate whether the status quo had changed in the North American region. Was EG no longer the top dog in the region?

EG answered back with a resounding no in Tour 3 of the DPC 2021/22. Following a roster change that saw the team bring back Fly to replace the departing Jesse "JerAx" Vainikka, Evil Geniuses are back on top of the region with dominant showings in the regional leagues and the tie-breakers.

EG had its revenge against Nouns in its first tiebreaker match, absolutely decimating its opponents right from the get-go. Midlaner Abed Azel "Abed" L. Yusop proved to be MVP of this game by putting up a 17/0/9 show on his Ember Spirit, finding kills left-right-and center and never really letting his opponents get a grip on the game. EG closed out the game in 35 minutes, putting them within touching distance of the Major.

The second game was a lot closer. Even though EG had its trademark perfect laning phase, it was unable to build on that lead. Quincy Crew managed to teamfight brilliantly by using Rodrigo "LESLÃO" Santos’s Lycan to chip down its opponents and having great vision as a result. However, one key mistake near the Roshan pit cost Quincy dearly as Evil Geniuses took the Aegis and Refresher Shard, easily breaking the former’s base using its Dragon Knight and Terrorblade illusions to chip down buildings.

With that win, Evil Geniuses booked a place in the Arlington Dota 2 Major 2022 and became the first North American team to qualify for the tournament. The team will be aiming to better its performance from its previous major where it finished last. It is still in contention of securing a direct invite to The International 11, if the cards line up for it at the Major.
