In his Twitch stream, EG support Cr1t says that Abed is the best midlaner in the world and that the team will not be parting ways with him.
Post the conclusion of TI10, fans were speculating about whether EG would undergo roster shuffles. Many seemed to omit Abed from the NA team's future lineups.
EG and Abed finished in 9th-12th place at TI10, a disappointing finish considering their successful 2021 DPC season.

Following the conclusion of The International 10 (TI10), the Dota 2 community has started to speculate upon the upcoming transfer and reshuffle season. Fans have started theorizing about which teams will change rosters, and swap players, heading into the 2021-22 Dota 2 Pro Circuit (DPC) season.

One of the lineups that was expected to undergo roster changes was NA team Evil Geniuses (EG) after their disappointing 9th-12th place finish at TI10. Several including TI5 champion and NA legend Peter "ppd" Dager have added to the rumors by posting potential EG lineups excluding Abed "Abed" Azel L. Yusop.

However, EG support Andreas Franck "Cr1t-" Nielsen has seemingly squashed these rumors in his recent stream on Twitch.

"Abed is literally the best midlaner in the world... there is no way we would part ways with him " - Cr1t

In his livestream on Twitch, Cr1t's chat was speculating about new lineups excluding Abed. Cr1t responded to these comments by stating, "I don't even know why people think this... It just makes no sense. Abed is literally the best midlaner in the world, there is no doubt in my mind about that. There is no way we would part ways with him."

He also added that public perception about the EG roster doesn't affect it saying, "I am sorry to tell you, but the way you guys feel about our or roster has no impact on our actual roster. Your opinion doesn't matter at all. I am sure most of you guys know it, but there is so many people that don't seem like they know it"

Abed joined the Evil Geniuses lineup on 16th September 2019 as the midlaner. The Filipino player has had a fairly successful run since then with a slew of second place finishes in various DPC majors and third-party tournaments. Unfortunately, he is yet to win a championship with the NA team.

The EG roster that competed at TI10 featured:

  • Artour "Arteezy" Babaev

  • Abed "Abed" Azel L. Yusop

  • Daryl Koh "iceiceice" Pei Xiang

  • Andreas Franck "Cr1t-" Nielsen

  • Tal "Fly" Aizik

  • Kanishka 'Sam' "BuLba" Sosale (Coach)

The team had dominated the 2021 DPC season, finishing 1st in the DPC rankings with two back-to-back runner-up finishes at The Singapore Major and The WePlay AniMajor. Unfortunately, the team only managed to secure a 9th-12th place finish at The International 10 and secured $800,400 USD as a result.

After the conclusion of TI10, with the new season upon us, fans are expecting large scale roster shuffles across various regions. It will certainly be an interesting season for undergoing roster changes.

Stay tuned to AFK Gaming to keep yourself up to date with the various roster shuffles that take place this season.
