BOOM Esports Bids Goodbye to Mikoto

BOOM Esports has finally announced the departure of its long serving midlane player, Rafli Fathur "Mikoto" Rahman. A tweet from the Indonesian organization expressed that it was hard to say goodbye to a player who had been with them for a long period of 1078 days. Mikoto had been on BOOM Esports' inactive roster since early September 2021 and had been placed on the transfer list after Erin Jasper "Yopaj" Ferrer, formerly a midlaner for OB.Neon, became a BOOM Esports player. Mikoto's new team is currently unknown but he announced on Instagram that he would be playing as Nigma Galaxy SEA's stand-in midlaner in the BTS Pro Series Season 9: Southeast Asia (SEA).

“Your time in this org has been nothing but astounding. So many moments cherished and so much you have brought for this team,” BOOM Esports said, wishing Mikoto the best of luck.

Mikoto had joined BOOM Esports in Sept 2018. In his three years with the squad, he established himself as a mainstay and one of the most talented midlaners in the region. A particularly successful year for BOOM Esports was 2020. Despite not winning the majority of the top SEA Dota 2 events, the team achieved multiple second place finishes. There was a bit of a downward spiral with fifth and seventh place finishes in the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2021. In The International 10 (TI10)'s SEA qualifier, the team put on a valiant performance but fell short of qualifying for the biggest event of the year.

In response to their inability to qualify for TI10, BOOM Esports radically changed its roster in an attempt to put together a new, international roster. Before Mikoto was put on the transfer list, Randy Muhammad "Dreamocel" Sapoetra, Brizio Adi "Hyde" Putra, and Alfi "Khezcute" Nelphyana, who all played with BOOM Esports for a considerable time parted ways. Fbz is the only remaining member from the previous roster.

Mikoto's new home is yet to be determined. It is likely that he will join forces with a new team soon since the DPC 2021-22 is reportedly scheduled to begin in a month. BOOM Esports also has a position to fill - the role of position one. Jinn Marrey "Palos" Lamatao served as the team's stand-in carry before TI10, but he was recently named as OB.Neon's new carry. However, there are a lot of free agents in the region leaving teams to have their pick of the lot as many of them are reorganizing their rosters right now.

Additionally, it's important to note that BOOM Esports will begin its DPC journey in the Lower Division due to a seventh place finish in the second regional league last season.
