SEA Lower Division all-star team SMG parted ways with their Midlaner Muhammad “Neah666” Ammar Rasulli on Tue, 8th June 2021. Neah666 joined the team initially at the time of the team’s inception in January 2021. The team has gone through significant roster changes since, and only one of the original players at the time of inception now remains on the active roster. The roster change comes as a surprise since the team had done great in the second season of the DPC with their second-place finish. It will be interesting to see who SMG picks up with the TI regional qualifiers right around the corner.
Team SMG’s Dota 2 roster was initially created on 2 January 2021, with the original roster consisting of all-stars Mushi, Ninjaboogie, vtFaded, ah fu, Neah666, and Ohaiyo. The team has since gone through a number of roster changes, and with this one, only Tue “ah fu” Soon Chuan remains from the original roster. Their current incomplete roster consists of Roger “Roddgeee” Tan, Tue “ah fu” Soon Chuan, Nai “MidOne” Zheng Yeik, and Damien “kpii” Chok.
Previous member vtFaded and Ohaiyo joined Team Mystery where Ohaiyo now plays as the position 4. vtFaded on the other hand has been banned from DPC events until after TI10 due to him competing for Team D in the DPC qualifiers while he was listed as a member for Team Mystery which resulted in Team D’s disqualification from the DPC qualifiers. Ironically, Team D had just knocked out Team SMG from the DPC qualifiers with their ex-member but due to Team D’s disqualification, Team SMG took their spot in the Lower Division and finished second.
Team SMG had a dominant run in the Lower Division of SEA’s second season of the 2021 DPC, dropping only one series the entire season to the top team Motivate.Trust Gaming and ended the season with a dominant 6-1 score and will be promoted to the Upper Division alongside Motivate.Trust Gaming in the next DPC season.
Team SMG currently has a spot in the SEA TI10 qualifiers which starts on 30th June, and needs to find a new player before the qualifiers begin if they want to participate.
Team SMG have currently not announced any news as to who the new player will be or if they will shuffle the players’ positions and move MidOne back to the midlane as many have speculated.
