Team Nigma Partners With Etihad Airways

Team Nigma has announced a collaboration with Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Communicated through their website blog, Team Nigma mentioned that they were the first esports team to have partnered with a significant airline company. This sponsorship comes after Team Nigma had become a part of the Abu Dhabi Gaming initiative in March 2021, resulting in the relocation of their headquarters to Abu Dhabi. This exclusive esports-based deal will involve Etihad Airways catering to the “packed global schedule” of the TI7 champions, carrying them to and from various competitions.

Team Nigma announces long-term partnership with Etihad Airways

The TI7 champions look to be striking deals with Middle East companies, aimed at “cementing the team’s position as one of the leading esports organizations in the world and providing them the chance to grow within the billion-dollar esports industry.”

In March 2021, Team Nigma had announced that they would be shifting their headquarters to Abu Dhabi as a part of the city’s gaming initiative that is aimed towards the growth of the esports industry in the Middle East. 

Now, on this collaboration of the TI7 champions with Etihad Airways, Mohamed Morad co-founder of Team Nigma, stated,

“As a kid, I dreamt of becoming a pilot so partnering up with my favourite airline is special on both a personal and a professional level.

“When competing on the highest level, our team and staff constantly need to travel around the world to face the top Dota 2 teams and the immense resources and expertise Etihad Airways will provide us, are going to help our players and staff reach new levels.”

Christoph Timm, Co-Founder of the team, also mentioned that Etihad Airways would be assisting Team Nigma in exploring and developing new esports talent in the region.

Amina Taher, Vice President of Brand, Marketing and Sponsorships at Etihad Airways, stated that they were proud to be the first major airline to invest in an esports team.

Team Nigma has emerged as one of the most popular Dota 2 organizations globally, having won multiple consequential tournaments and, most importantly, TI7. They are currently competing in the EU 2021 DPC Season 2: Upper Division with their eyes set on TI10. They play their next series in the league on May 2, 2021, against Brame.
