The first season of WePlay Academy League has come to an end with mouz NXT walking away as the champions, proving that they are the best CS:GO Academy team in the world. The final stage of the $100,000 USD tournament took place over the course of this weekend, coming to an end on 29th August as the finals took place between Young Ninjas and mouz NXT. The inaugural CS:GO tournament gave a platform to all the international Academy teams to come together and show how they rank up against each other.

With the mainstream CS:GO season on hold during its initial phase, the WePlay Academy League attracted quite the attention from community members, achieving a peak of 28,429 viewers, along with an average of more than 11,000 viewers.

Mouz NXT are the winners of WePlay Academy League Season 1

The inaugural season of WePlay Academy League which took place from 27th to 29th August featuring an $88,000 USD prize pool concluded yesterday, as mouz NXT walked away as the champions with $45,000 USD in prize money.

Despite winning the tournament their path was not as easy as expected, after defeating BIG Academy in the opening round mouz NXT went down to Young Ninjas with a '2-1' scoreline.

However, mouz NXT were ready for a rematch against them once again, as they defeated Fnatic Rising '2-1' in the lower bracket to set up a revenge grand finals face off. This time Young Ninjas were in for a shock as they did not win a single map except for the default first map victory, awarded to them for reaching the finals through the upper bracket.

Mouz NXT took them down '16-2', '16-11', and '16-9' to register three consecutive wins on Mirage, Nuke, and Inferno, respectively.

The WePlay Academy League Season 1 received an overall positive response from the CS:GO community, especially for the addition of the heart rate monitor which gave viewers an extra layer of insight, making their viewing experience more entertaining and inclusive.
