The controversial smoke bug incident had caused a lot of uproar during the Legends Stage of the PGL Antwerp Major 2022.
He apologized by saying that "The admins allowed it, but it is clear that you need to use your head and not use such things, especially at the Major. So for this, I am sorry."

A controversy had arisen during the Legends Stage of the PGL Antwerp Major 2022 when a user found out that Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov had abused a one-way smoke bug on Mirage as he had used it during the match against Imperial Esports.

The matter became worse when m0NESY revealed that the PGL admins had allowed him to use the bugged smoke upon being asked if it was legal or not. This was followed by an uproar across the CS:GO community as players from all teams came forward to make a gentleman's agreement of not using this exploit for the remainder of the tournament.

A few days since the drama, m0NESY has finally spoken on the topic, publicly apologizing for his actions while also explaining the entire situation once again from his point of view.

The mandatory Major drama had taken place during the Legends Stage earlier this week when it was found out that G2 Esports' star AWPer, m0NESY, had been exploiting a one-way smoke bug on Mirage which was approved and legal as per the PGL admins.

There had been a lot of debate on the matter, as all teams came forward agreeing on the fact that no one would abuse this exploit, with Valve deploying a fix in record time to maintain the integrity of the Major.

Though m0NESY did not address the situation independently at that point in time, he did apologize for his actions via a short video yesterday on 20th May. The 17-year-old accepted that he had used the smoke bug against NAVI and Imperial Esports during the PGL Antwerp Major 2022: Legends Stage.

"Sorry, you need to use your head before doing something like this," said m0NESY, further explaining that "To be clear, when we [G2 Esports] were showing this smoke [to the PGL admins], we showed it with the window smoke [Mirage] so there was a smoke effect. When you look at this smoke you can see that it is a bug. The admins [PGL] allowed it, but it is clear that you need to use your head and not use such things, especially at the Major. So for this, I am sorry."

Note: The segment starts from 8:20 onwards and is in Russian.

G2 Esports could not make it through the Legends Stage of the Major which was quite disappointing as many expected them to at least make it to the Playoffs. They will be next seen in action at the upcoming IEM Dallas 2022 where expectations will be high from them to deliver a better performance.
