PGL Major Stockholm 2021 Announced

PGL will be hosting the next CS:GO Major in Stockholm, the first to take place after a span of more than two years. Valve’s idea behind organizing the Major in Stockholm is related to “CS:GO coming home, where it all began in November 2013, when the first-ever CS:GO Major took place in Sweden”.

This is a reference to DreamHack Winter 2013, which had taken place in Jönköping, Sweden. It was the first-ever CS:GO Major tournament that took place in the world. Valve will be returning to Sweden for hosting a Major for the third time in its history, and it will be the first time that the Major takes place in Stockholm.

PGL Major Stockholm 2021 is currently scheduled to take place from 23rd October to 7th November, “If all safety conditions to hold live competition events are met by that time”. The main event will be taking place from 4th-7th November in front of a live audience at Ericsson Globe which is also known as Stockholm Globe Arena.

The organizers of the 16th Major, PGL has a rich history in organizing CS:GO Majors. They were the first once to introduce 1080p 60 fps broadcast in 2017 with PGL Major Kraków, and now once again they are ready to make a huge leap as the upcoming PGL Major Stockholm is poised to become the first Major to introduce a 4K 60 fps broadcast.

“PGL is also preparing many new surprises like innovative Augmented Reality elements, brand new custom HUD and other brand new features.”

StarLadder Berlin Major was the last CS:GO Major that had taken place more than two years ago in September 2019, since then all scheduled Major tournaments had been cancelled due to the global health situation, which included the extremely hyped ESL One Rio 2020.
