All We Know About the MLBB M2 World Championship

The most anticipated tournament for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang(MLBB), the M2 World Championship, has been announced and will be held next year in Singapore.

MLBB M2 World Championship Details

Moonton has yet to provide a full list of participating teams. However, a trailer has revealed that two Singapore teams: RSG and Evos SG will represent their region for the upcoming tournament. 

The Group stage for the M2 World Championship will take place from January 18 to 20, and the Playoffs will take place from January 22 to 24. Teams from different regions will compete for a total prize pool of $300,000 USD for the MLBB M2 World Championship. 

Co-organized with Singapore’s Cybersports and Online Gaming Association (SCOGA), the Singapore Tourism Board supports the M2 World Championship. To ensure safety, the tournament will be held offline at the comfort of one of Singapore’s Luxurious Hotels, Shangri-la. It will be broadcasted live for the participating regions to watch. This will be the very first major offline esports tournament held in Southeast Asia in 2021.

The M2 World Championship is the second World Championship held by Moonton. The previous one was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, featuring 16 teams from different regions and a total prize pool of $250,000. Evos Legends took the crown and went home with a grand prize of $80,000.

According to esports charts, the last MLBB World Championship held on Nov. 2019 peaked at around 648,000 viewers and 162,000 average viewers. Indonesian viewers being the top contributors for the views, followed by Malaysians.

With the growth of MLBB’s popularity this year, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if next year’s MLBB M2 World Championship would surpass the viewership of the previous World Championship.
