PUBG Mobile was the most-watched Mobile Esports title in 2020 despite its ban in India. According to Esports Charts, PUBG Mobile garnered a total of 134.5 Million hours of watch time from fans around the world, making it the highest among all mobile games for the year 2020. It beats out the likes of Free Fire, Mobile Legends, and Arena of Valor for this metric. Considering the amount of resources that has been invested into the PUBG Mobile esports scene, this certainly doesn’t come as too much of a surprise.

PUBG Mobile was the most popular mobile esports game in 2020

According to Esports Charts, PUBG Mobile dominated the mobile esports scene in terms of watch time. The popular mobile game garnered a total of 134.5 Million hours of watch time. This makes PUBG Mobile the most popular mobile esports game as of 2020.

The most popular PUBG Mobile tournament was the PUBG Mobile World League 2020. The eastern division of the tournament garnered a massive total of 1.1 Million Peak Viewers. 

During the PUBG Mobile Club Open, which was held across fourteen regions, India contributed the most viewers with a total of 87,000 peak viewers. Despite PUBG Mobile being banned in India, it would seem that the game is still picking up a lot of support from its fans in the said region. There were multiple attempts to relaunch the game in India, but the game continues to remain banned.

PUBG Mobile hopes to expand its fanbase by hosting campus tournaments around the world. One of these tournaments is the PUBG Mobile Campus Championship Indonesia 2020, which picked up 28k peak viewers.

Garena Free Fire

Following PUBG Mobile is its major competitor, Garena Free Fire with a total of 132.2 Million hours of watch time. Their launch of Seasonal Leagues worldwide has helped the game attract more fans who will tune in on their live streams. 

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

Mobile Legends has been actively expanding its reach across the world. Thanks to their regular regional leagues in Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar, Singapore, and Malaysia, official tournaments have garnered a total of 106.1 Million hours of watch time. Take note that the M2 World Championship is not included as it was held in January 2021. 

Arena of Valor

Arena of Valor garnered a total of 93.9 Million hours of watch time. Despite the game being less popular outside Asia, the game still holds up as Garena often hosts major seasonal tournaments in Thailand, Vietnam, and Taiwan.

Clash Royale

Clash Royale is still within the top 5 most popular mobile esports games that garnered 6.9 Million hours of watch time. However, the game barely improved its position. Even League of Legends: Wild Rift managed to surpass Clash Royale in terms of peak viewers despite the game still in its beta phase and has fewer esports events. Clash Royale League World Finals 2020 garnered a total of 112,578 peak viewership, while Twitch Rivals: Wild Rift Invitational managed to reach 130,411 peak viewers.
