  • Amid the tournament, 3 esports pros were tested positive of COVID - 19. This later revealed to be Bigetron memebrs Luxxy and Zuxxy, and Futbolist member Lovazin.

The PUBG Mobile Global Championship Finals (PMGC) concluded on Jan. 26, 2021. The Chinese team Nova XQF earned the title of champions. The grand finals of the tournament was originally planned to be held at the Coca-Cola Stadium in Dubai. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the tournament had to be held in a hotel to prevent any complications.

Amid the tournament, two players from Bigetron Red Aliens (BTR), Luxxy and Zuxxy tested positive for COVID-19 forcing the event to take place elsewhere.

According to Bigetron Esport’s post, the two esports pros contracted the virus one day after arriving in Dubai, on Jan. 15, 2021.

“Through this release, we inform you that two of our players, Made Bagas "Zuxxy" Pramudita, and Made Bagus "Luxxy" Prabaswara was positive for being exposed to COVID-19. Zuxxy and Luxxy tested positive for COVID-19 one day after landing in Dubai, UAE, namely on January 15, 2021. As a result, with forced the Red Aliens team to undergo the match under these conditions isolation with separate rooms individually. The good news, they have been declared cured and came back negative on January 19-20 2021. Even so, mandatory 14 days of isolation independence must still be implemented. Self-isolation itself will be completed on January 30, 2021 and they are scheduled to return to their homeland on 31 January 2021. Fighting in isolation is not easy. Communication, fitness physical, and mental stability are underperformance factors optimal.”

Although the two PUBG pros have recovered, they are still going to be isolated for a total of 14 days. Because of this, the Bigetron Red Aliens had to compete in the tournament in separate rooms as a precaution. 

This self-isolation will end on Jan. 30, and both players are expected to head back to their home on Jan. 30, 2021.

Apart from Luxxy and Zuxxy, one of the pro players, Lovazin from Futbolist, also got infected by COVID - 19. Futbolist captain, Solkay made a post on Instagram, praising Lovazin’s fighting spirit despite his current situation.

Lovazin was also awarded the “Field Medic” title after the finals because of his astonishing achievement of pulling off 67 revives throughout the tournament.

Despite this hurdle, the tournament turned out successful considering that the tournament peaked at around 3.8 Million Viewership based on Esports Charts.
