MLBB M2 World Championship to be Hosted in Singapore

One of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang(MLBB)’s biggest esports tournament has found its way to Singapore. One of the most anticipated MLBB tournaments, the MLBB M2 World Championship will be hosted in Singapore next year Jan. 2021. The best teams from around the world will compete for a total prize pool of $300,000 USD. 

Earlier this year, Singapore lost the chance to host a DOTA 2 Major due to the ongoing global pandemic. However, it looks like normalcy is being restored, allowing Moonton to host the MLBB M2 World Championship tournament in the Southeast Asian country.

“Mobile Legends traces much of its global success today to its roots in Southeast Asia and Moonton is very pleased to bring this great news to gamers everywhere with much thanks to the support of the Singapore government and our industry partners,”  said Justin Yuan, co-founder and Chief Executive of Moonton. “This will be our most exciting event ever as our top players embark on this epic journey to battle it out in Singapore.”

Singapore Welcomes MLBB M2 World Championship

The highlight of MLBB professional esports, M2 World Championship will take place at the comfort of the luxury hotel, Shangri-la in Singapore. 

“The growth of esports continues to accelerate especially in such uncertain times.” Jean Ng, Executive Director, Attractions, Entertainment & Tourism Concept Development at STB, said. “We are heartened to welcome a global title like Mobile Legends, as we safely and gradually resume events in Singapore.”

Further details for the MLBB M2 World Championship is expected to be released shortly. It is speculated that recent MPL Winners such as Todak, Bren Esports, and RQQ Hoshi will be participating and take up some of the Southeast Asian slots for the tournament. Moonton has yet to announce the specific details of the tournament and the teams who will be participating in the MLBB M2 World Championship.

The MLBB M2 World Championship event is supported by the Singapore Tourism Board and the Singapore Cybersports and Online Gaming Association (SCOGA) and will be the very first major offline esports tournament in Southeast Asia in 2021.
