The group stages of the 250,000 USD M1 World Championships saw South East Asian teams dominate their respective groups and secure berths in the playoffs stage. This was to be expected since the title is so much more popular in the region. Teams from Europe, North America, South America and even Turkey found themselves outmatched against the likes of the SEA competition, who were clearly superior in almost all aspects.

Group A saw MPL-ID runners up, RRQ smash their way to the top position as they dropped just one single game. Cambodia’s Impunity were unable to put up a single victory on the board while Vietnamese side, VEC Fantasy main finished second in the group and will also move onto the playoffs.

In Group B, the Burmese Ghouls went 6-0 to top the table. Also joining them in the playoffs will be Thailand’s Axis Esports Club. From Group C, Malaysia’s Todak and Philippines’ Sunspark have qualified to the playoffs. MPL-ID Champions, Evos Legends is joined by Japan’s 10s Gaming Plus from group D to round out the 8 teams for the playoffs.

The brackets for the playoffs is as follows:
