Rammus, the Armordillo, is the latest champion to be released in League of Legends: Wild Rift. Riot Games decided to rework Rammus’ abilities for the dual-stick controls on mobile. However, his basic playstyle is the same as his PC version. Rammus is currently the 62nd champion in Wild Rift and is one of the easiest jungle champions to use. Rammus - Abilities

Rammus’ kit is pretty straightforward with decent crowd control and powerful skills. Let’s take a quick look at his skills;

Passive: Rolling Armordillo - When out of combat, gain bonus movement speed. Value is increased when using 1st skill.

Ultimate: Soaring Slam

Rammus hops into the air and slams down, dealing magic damage and creating aftershocks in the area.

Rammus - Runes, Summoner Spells and Items

Rammus is a naturally tanky champion with scaling health and is usually played in the jungle or Baron Lane. With crowd control and both defensive and offensive buffs, players can use him to lock down enemies with his taunt during ganks and teamfights. The Aftershock rune is a great choice for Rammus since it deals additional damage to nearby enemies and grants him additional armor and magic resistance. The AoE of Aftershock scales with Rammus’ movement speed. Run Weakness to increase your team’s damage to enemies that have been crowd-controlled (slowed, taunted, etc.) Hunter - Titan gives him bonus health and tenacity while Pathfinder grants him more movement speed in the jungle, bushes, and the river, making it a good choice for jungling with Rammus.

Run Smite and Flash on him for Summoner Spells. Smite is compulsory on all junglers while Flash is great for both offensive plays and escaping from a sticky situation. Use the blue variation of Smite to slow down enemies and catch up to them. Going red Smite on him is also a good option against aggressive junglers or if you just want to deal more damage.

Rammus brings a lot of mobility and utility to his team and is great for starting fights and keeping enemies engaged, giving your ADC and backline the opportunity to deal tonnes of damage. Build Sunfire Aegis to deal magic damage to enemies nearby. Sunfire Aegis helps you constantly deal magic damage to nearby enemies as well as 50% bonus damage to minions and monsters, which helps clear jungle camps faster. Flame Touch also helps you deal burn damage to nearby enemies. Randuin’s Omen will reduce damage from Critical Strikes and Attack Speed when you attack them. This works well with Rammus’ frontline tank playstyle. Pick up Force of Nature for the extra movement speed and magic resistance. If the enemy team has a lot of physical damage (AD), build Plated Steelcaps with Gargoyle or Guardian Enchant or Ninja Tabi, Thornmail, Dead Man’s Plate, or Frozen heart to reduce incoming damage and add more crowd control. For an Ability Power heavy team, go for Mercury’s Treads, a Spirit Visage, an Abyssal Mask, or Warmog’s Armor.

Rammus - Tips to Play

  • Rammus’ great mobility allows him to surprise overextended enemies with ganks and keep constant pressure in all lanes.

  • Use his Powerball to increase movement speed before going into teamfights or ganks.

  • Use your Frenzying Tauny and Defensive Ball Curl to keep enemies busy with you, while they take damage from your passive and items.

  • His reworked ultimate is great for attacking enemies in tight spots in the jungle or initiating teamfights.

  • Try to stick with your team, especially during teamfights, rather than solo push lanes because his kit works best with other teammates around to dish out the damage while you keep them taunted.
