World Series of Warzone is a competitive event for Call of Duty: Warzone which will be hosted directly by Activision Blizzard Esports. The event is set to feature some of the biggest names in Warzone esports and it will feature a prize pool of $1.2 million across four events. World Series of Warzone will kick off on June 23 in the North Americas region with a trios event. Activision is trying to shape Warzone as a competitive battle royale. Here is everything you need to know about World Series of Warzone and its future as a global competitive esport.

World Series of Warzone Format

The World Series of Warzone is a draft-based event where squads earn points for each kill and for how well they place in each individual match. There will be five ‘Captains’ who will be announced at a later date. They will headline five separate teams of 10 trios or 15 duos (30 total players), including their personal trio of themselves plus two drafted players.

Players can qualify for the WSOW and be eligible for the draft in one of two ways:

  • A select portion of WSOW players will be invited by Activision. Additionally, each of the 12 Call of Duty League teams have the option to invite a squad of their choosing.
  • Open qualifiers and select community tournaments hosted by Call of Duty League Team organizations and official WSOW program partners. No more than two Call of Duty League pro players will be able to compete on a single squad.

The Captains will then draft the squads and the teams will be finalized.

World Series of Warzone Prize Pool

World Series of Warzone will feature a prize pool of $1.2 million across four events, with $300,000 up for grabs in each event.  Individual trios will compete $200,000 of that prize pool, with the trio with the most points earning the largest share for that event. The other $100,000 will be up for grabs in the Captain’s Cup. Details for the Captain’s Cup will be announced at a later date.
