Team SMG (Still Moving Under Gunfire) has announced a brand new Valorant roster featuring two new players and a new coach. The team put out a press release today that announced the new squad. Sha “ZesBeeW” Mohtar, Alex “falfalfal” Cheang, and Xavier “LEXY” Lee from the previous team will be staying in the new roster, while Chun Ting “Divine” Yeoh and Danyal “Kama” Heng will not be competing with SMG in 2021. Joshua “JdFaker” Fok and Javier “Egoist” Chua will be joining the roster as new players, and we also have Hoc Wah “Fayde” Chong joining the team has head-coach.

Why Did Team SMG Let Go of Its Players?
Divine left the team due to mandatory national service in the Singapore military, while the reason behind Kama’s departure has not been stated. The older players have had their contracts renewed by one year, and the new players have been signed with one-year contracts.
Team SMG has cemented its place as one of the top teams in Singapore’s Valorant circuit, and they have multiple tournament wins under their belt, including The Gym Singapore Invitational and AOC Masters Tournament. They were also part of Valorant First Strike’s Malaysia and Singapore wing and came second after losing to TODAK in the grand finals. The team is currently competing in the SEA Fire Championship 2020 and are through to the quarterfinals with three straight wins in the group stage. They will be going up against some of the best teams in SEA at the knockout stages, which begin next month.
Team SMG revealed that they would create a working relationship between the new team and the team’s co-founder JJ Lin and management and music production company JFJ Productions for workshops. The team will focus on the players’ individual growth and train them in media, personal branding, image, and etiquette.
According to Team SMG, general manager Orrin Xu, “We make sure every member of the Team SMG family experiences a holistic player development. While performance is important, the organization makes sure to develop the players outside of the game that will help them further their professional career.”
