This is the 5th edition of the tournament and will have a total prize pool of Rs. 3,00,000. KO Fight Night has a legacy of bringing together the best fighting game esports athletes coming over from all over India to go head-to-head in three of the most-played fighting game titles, Street Fighter V, Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Tekken 7. Each title will have a prize pool of Rs. 1,00,000.

Details of KO Fight Night

KO Fight Night was moved online due to restrictions and registrations have started on 11th August. Street Fighter 5 will be played on PS4 with Tekken 7 on PC while Super Smash Bros will be played on Nintendo Switch. The tournament will have 8 Online Qualifiers from where the top 2 contenders of each qualifier will move to the Playoffs. The 16 qualified players will then play in a GSL (Dual Tournament) format with 2 groups of 8 players each. The top 2 players from each group will reserve themselves a spot in the Grand Finals. A total of 4 players will play double-elimination, best-of-3 matches to win the coveted title of KO Fight Night. The registrations for Qualifiers 2 and 3 are currently open.

“The tight-knit FGC in India has extreme potential, one that we keep witnessing in Dew Arena and DreamHack. Taking that forward, KO Fight Night will now help to build the community on a more solid platform, which is, the Airtel India Esports Tour. A national ranking and rewarding system will make sure that the gamers are on their toes to reach the top while broadening the reach of fighting games,” said Akshat Rathee, MD & Co-Founder, NODWIN Gaming.

Previous iterations of KO Fight Night in Dreamhack have seen big names like Abhinav Tejan attend. Tejan is a professional Tekken player who won NESC 2018 in Tekken 7, has represented India and finished 4th at the 10th Esports World Championship, 3rd at SEA Major 2018 and 9th at Evo Japan 2020. Tejan will be participating in this tournament along with other popular names from the fighting games scene including Loveneet, LionHeart and Qwertz143.
