  • Volibear rework was premiered in a livestream event by Riot Games
  • New Thousand Pierced Volibear skin revealed.

Riot Games had been teasing the Volibear rework for quite some time now and everyone was hyped after they announced a global livestream event on Friday, May 8 at 8 PM Pacific Time. Riot had decided this time around to fully realise his “lightning-fueled Freljordian demigod” identity. Watching the livestream however, left the community wanting more. Here is a recap of all the gameplay and splash art snippets featured.

Majority of the stream was filler content with lightning striking over the ARAM map, Howling Abyss, and snippets of Volibear’s new abilities in action and updated splash art thrown in from time to time. It also featured some completed assets for the bear, including the reworked Thunder Lord Volibear, Captain Volibear, El Rayo Volibear and others. When the updates had concluded after being cut into the cinematic, the weather in the cinematic changed to reveal the brand new Thousand Pierced Volibear. The rework is making its way to the PBE server in the upcoming patch cycle.

While the stream could have been better, fans nevertheless got a full look at everything new about The Thunder's Roar. The livestream ended with a giant Volibear towering over the Howling Abyss. Perhaps a hint of an upcoming ARAM event centred around the bear?
