In accordance with the safety protocols of WePlay Esports, all participants will undergo two COVID-19 tests upon arrival at the hotel: the Express test and the RT-PCR test, the organization communicated. If these two tests come back negative, then players need not follow the Ukrainian safety protocol of self-isolation upon arrival.

WePlay Esports also mentioned that all participants have been “provided with Health Insurance Certificate covering COVID-19 treatment and observation.” This insurance will be provided by a company registered in Ukraine due to the requirements of the government.

Some of the protocols that WePlay is adapting for this tournament are:

  • Hygiene and distancing;
  • Testing and monitoring where appropriate;
  • Limited or no crowd at the venue;
  • Travel precautions;
  • Compliance and sanctions protocols;
  • Direct links and channels of communication with relevant authorities;
  • Expected interactions plan to minimize human contact.

WePlay Esports is gradually becoming one of the premier Dota 2 tournament organizers. They impressed fans of the game with their content quality and variety at the OMEGA League in August-September 2020. As with ONE Esports, which hosted the Singapore Major, WePlay was not assigned to a regional league but is now preparing for the second Dota 2 Major of the season.

WePlay AniMajor is scheduled from June 2-13 at the WePlay Esports Arena Kyiv, Ukraine. The wild card will take place on June 2-3, the group stage on June 4-7, and the playoffs from June 9-13. The games will be played on LAN at the WePlay Esports Arena Kyiv, but spectators will not be able to attend in person, similar to the Singapore Major. A total of 18 teams are going to compete in the event that offers a total prize pool of $500,00 USD and 2700 DPC points.
