TI10’s Live Attendance Will Likely Be Capped at 300 People

The International 10 (TI10) may only have a maximum of 300 live spectators attending the event in-person if the event takes place as scheduled in the Avicii Arena (originally known as Stockholm Globe Arena). Sweden recently outlined a detailed plan for gradually removing pandemic restrictions over the next five months. According to a report from The Local SE, only 300 people will be allowed to attend indoor events (50 if it is a non-seated event) as spectators from July 2021 until September 2021. Avicii Arena is an indoor arena, so this rule may apply to TI10, which is scheduled to take place in Stockholm, Sweden, from August 5-15. 

Valve is yet to detail whether TI10 will have live spectators. Despite announcing it as the host of The International 10 back in 2019, Valve didn’t mention if the Avicii Arena would be hosting the tournament as planned, in its latest update posted on May 12, 2021.

TI10 may not have a large live audience 

Avicii Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, has a capacity of 15,000+ people. Still, due to recent rulings on the presence of people in seated indoor events, it is likely that only 300 people will be allowed to attend TI10. It is currently unknown if the tournament organizers, players, and talent will also be included in this number.

In Valve’s “As The International Approaches: Introducing Supporters Clubs” blog post on May 12, 2021, not much was shared about the presence of live viewers as the organization expects to communicate more in June as the summer continues.

In order to give Dota 2 fans sufficient time to book tickets and travel to Stockholm for TI10, it is very likely that we will know if a live audience will be allowed in this June update. If it is indeed permitted, Valve will probably also detail the number of maximum viewers that can be allowed at the venue. In such a situation, tickets are likely to sell out within a matter of seconds, so keep a keen eye on Valve's blog if you’re planning to attend the biggest Dota 2 tournament of the year. 

The Top 18 Dota 2 teams from around the world will be seen competing at the coveted tournament for the lion’s share of the $40,018,195 USD prize pool. Invictus Gaming, Team Secret, Virtus.pro, and Evil Geniuses are the four teams that have guaranteed a TI10 slot so far. 

We will likely be getting the next eight teams that will compete at TI10 following the WePlay AniMajor. The final six teams will be decided via the TI10 regional qualifiers. TI10 will kick off with the Group Stage, running August 5-8 with the main event from August 10-15.
