The TI10 regional qualifiers format has finally been revealed by Bruno, a Valve employee. In a Reddit thread, he explained that the qualifiers in every region (EU, CIS, SEA, China, NA and SA) will be a BO3 double-elimination bracket followed by a BO5 grand final. All 16 teams, eight in the Upper and eight in the Lower Divisions, except those that collect enough DPC points to secure a TI10 direct invite, will compete in the regional qualifiers. Teams are seeded into the double-elimination bracket based on the DPC points accumulated and the standings of the 2021 DPC Season 2.

Explanation of the TI10 Regional Qualifiers format with SEA DPC as an example

One team from each region will qualify for TI10 through the TI10 regional qualifiers. Teams in the upper and lower divisions are eligible to compete in the qualifiers if they have three out of the five players who played in season two.

The DPC points earned by teams over the course of the two regional leagues and two Majors will be given priority when it comes to seeding. Here’s how the brackets will look:

The winner of Division 2 (Lower Division) has been given a higher seed than the seventh-place team in Division 1 (Upper Division). Subsequently, runner-ups of Division 2 have also been given priority over the eight-placed team in Division 1.

For example, with the current amount of DPC points that SEA teams possess and their ranking in the second DPC season, this will be the seeding. For the purposes of simplicity, we are assuming that no SEA team receives a TI10 direct invite.

Since there is a possibility that teams disband or do not have enough players to compete in the regional qualifiers combined with the fact that certain teams will get a direct entry into TI10, the teams at the bottom of the seeding will be given byes.

“If a region doesn’t have 16 eligible teams (most or all of them), whatever empty slots remaining at the end will be byes. For example, if a region has 13 teams available, slots 14 to 16 will be byes and seeds 9, 10 and 11 will advance to [the] next round immediately.

So, to be specific: DPC points matter over standings in the last season. Byes are always taken from the bottom (which means more division 2 teams can start in upper bracket if several teams are directly qualified)”

The schedule and the teams competing in the TI10 regional qualifiers are yet to be revealed. We can expect them to be unveiled after the conclusion of the WePlay AniMajor. The WePlay AniMajor will be held at Kyiv in Ukraine from June 2-13, 2021. 18 teams will compete for a total prize pool of $500,000 USD and 2700 DPC points.

TI10 is scheduled to take place in the Avicii Arena, Stockholm, Sweden from Aug 5th - 15th, 2021. The top 18 Dota 2 teams from across the world will be competing for the lion's share of the $40 Million~ USD prize pool at the biggest Dota 2 event of the year.
