Team Liquid's Coach Blitz Talks About SumaiL After 2-1 Win on His Debut

SumaiL has put up a strong showing in his debut series as a stand-in for Team Liquid in the EU 2021 DPC Season 2: Upper Division. Team Liquid was able to clinch the series against Brame 2-1 to register their second series win. Team Liquid faltered in game 2 of the series. They struck back in the final game to close out the series. The team’s coach, William "Blitz" Lee, then appeared in the post-match winners’ interview where he talked about their latest addition, Syed Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan. Blitz talked highly of the 22-year old player, mentioning how he was an exciting athlete and a great person to engage with. SumaiL has been called in to stand in for the team after their offlaner, Samuel "Boxi" Svahn, took a temporary break from competitive play.

Liquid’s coach Blitz speaks about SumaiL’s addition to Team Liquid

The current Team Liquid members have been playing competitive Dota 2 for a considerable amount of time. Despite ups and downs, the team has never had a roster change and has seemingly evolved over the last couple of years. 

“It was great (on the first series with SumaiL). SumaiL is fantastic. I mean, we got this guy. We knew we probably needed him, contacted him a few months ago. He was really easy. Literally the day after the Nigma series, shoutout to Liquid, they got him a Visa like the day after. He was then off a flight and ready to scrim. We have been grinding with him. He has been phenomenal. Honestly, I am really surprised if he does not get an opportunity to be on a top-tier team.”

Blitz mentioned that Boxi would be given all the time he needed and return to the team whenever he wished. Regardless of any accomplishments that Team Liquid manage to achieve with SumaiL.

Though SumaiL played the entire series as midlaner with qoqjva shifting to the offlane, Blitz clearly mentioned that there would be a possibility of more role swaps in the coming time as the players figure out stuff.

Blitz further reiterated his views on SumaiL being an amazing player and a great person.

“Yeah, I mean, he has been an absolute trooper. I am really surprised more teams aren’t lining up to talk to this guy. His skill is right up there. Personality-wise, he fits in excellently. He has been teaching us a lot. He leads a lot of the replay sessions. He tells everybody, ‘Hey come over, come look at this’ and stuff like that. He is not anything at all like what people would expect. Super humble nice guy.”

Team Liquid vs Brame: Match Recap and Highlights

Recap

Game 1 was the annihilation of Brame’s heroes as Team Liquid were dominant throughout and were always on the hunt for more kills. Everybody chipped in with their efforts on Team Liquid’s side as they registered a convincing victory in 28 minutes.

Game 2 was a thriller as it presented insane constant teamfighting. While Brame was ahead throughout the entirety of the game, Liquid always managed to put up strong fights to prevent their enemies from piercing their high ground. However, a crucial teamfight win with SumaiL dead without buyback allowed Brame to end the game in 52 minutes.

Game 3 witnessed Team Liquid delivering a clinical performance as they came out ahead in the laning phase and then kept the pressure on. Taiga and iNSaNiA were insane with their pickoff plays, while SumaiL was flawless on his mid Puck as they secured a victory in 35 minutes.

After suffering a loss in their opening encounter against Alliance, Team Liquid has managed to secure back-to-back wins against Team Nigma and Brame. They have their next matchup in the EU 2021 DPC Season 2: Upper Division scheduled against Hellbear Smashers on May 2, 2021.
