Netflix Anime DOTA: Dragon’s Blood Book 2 Has Been Announced

DOTA: Dragon’s Blood season 2 has finally been announced by Valve on April 19th. On their Dota 2 Twitter handle, Valve announced that book 2 of the DOTA: Dragon’s Blood anime is currently in the works while also mentioning that the historic TI1 documentary, Free To Play, had been released on Netflix. This announcement follows a successful eight-episode season 1 of the DOTA: Dragon’s Blood that premiered globally on Netflix on March 25, 2021. While Valve has promised a season 2 of the Dota 2 anime, the organization has not revealed anything regarding its release date, its cast, or the heroes being portrayed.

Valve announces Season 2 of the DOTA: Dragon’s Blood

The Dota 2 Twitter handle, on April 19, 2021, announced the Dota 2 anime stating, “Book 2 is coming! The second season of DOTA: Dragon's Blood is in the works.” 

DOTA: Dragon’s Blood season 2 was already being predicted by the fans of the community after the first one ended in a cliffhanger. The animatic director of the first series, Robert Meyer Burnett, had also hinted at it, this affirmation by Valve is certainly going to increase the hype. 

Robert Meyer Burnett had stated in his YouTube show, ROBSERVATIONS, that the last episode he was going to work on was the 24th episode. So, there is a possibility that we might be having three seasons, having eight episodes each.

However, the declaration of book 2 of the anime has already made fans and Dota 2 teams ecstatic.

Season 1 of the anime, based on Valve’s flagship MOBA, Dota 2, was well received by fans of the game and was trending on Netflix in many SEA, CIS, and SA countries like Peru, the Philippines, Ukraine, and Russia. 


Studio Mir also tweeted about the announcement likely confirming that they will be handling production for the second season as well. Although it has not yet been confirmed, the terrific voice actors from Season 1 of the anime are expected to return for the second season.

With the anime and the Free To Play documentary gaining an extensive reach by featuring on Netflix, it will be intriguing to see if Valve decides to embed the True Sight documentaries of TIs and Major Champions also on Netflix.
