South American team beastcoast has pulled out of the Singapore Major after their player, StingeR got exposed to COVID-19 this past week. Although the other four players in the team tested negative, the org is not certain if its players are positive or not before flying out to the first Major of the 2021 DPC season and hence is not willing to take the risk of traveling. beastcoast finished first in the South American regional league in the 2021 DPC S1 and hence had a spot in the upper brackets of the tournament.

beastcoast to miss ONE Esports Singapore Major

The South American organization posted a statement on their Twitter handle detailing the situation. According to beastcoast, Stinger is currently in isolation after he tested positive this past week.

The organization clarified that they’re reluctant to travel since they cannot be certain if the players are positive or not before flying out to Singapore due to the incubation period of the virus. They also reaffirmed that safety is their first priority and that traveling at this time and potentially exposing others would be irresponsible.


While the revival of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) and the Major Championships had come in as exciting news for Dota 2 fans, the final days that lead to the first DPC Major in 14 months have not at all been merry.

Besides beastcoast, T1’s Kuku, Neon Esports’ Natsumi-, Quincy Crew’s MSS, Nigma’s MinD_ContRoL, Na’Vi’s Iceberg and ALWAYSWANNAFLY have been confirmed to be missing the tournament. Virtus.Pro’s carry Nightfall has also fallen sick and will not be making it to the Singapore Major unless his situation improves.
