Former paiN Gaming South American player, Anderson "444" Santos, known among his peers as “Bob,” passed away earlier today in an intensive care unit (ICU) in Brazil due to COVID-19 complications. As per 444’s sister, he had been battling with COVID-19 for one month and had even gathered money for the treatment on January 22 but unfortunately, succumbed to the virus. She announced his demise via a Twitter post following which a number of South American Dota 2 personalities expressed their grief. 444 was just 25 years old and his short stint in competitive Dota 2 saw him participating in tournaments such as the MDL Disneyland Paris Major, the Epicenter Major 2019 and DreamLeague Season 13.
Former paiN Gaming Dota 2 player 444 succumbs to COVID-19 complications
444’s sister was regularly posting updates about his fight against the virus on Twitter and had earlier posted that the SA Dota 2 community had contributed to his treatment by donating R$6,000 ($1,117 USD).
His sister had reported yesterday that they were waiting for an ICU to become vacant but earlier today, she communicated that her brother was no more.
SA Dota 2 personalities including Quincy Crew offlaner Lelis, and former teammate hFn, mourned the loss of the fellow Brazilian esports athlete.

444’s Dota 2 career
444 was a relatively new entrant into the Dota 2 professional scene who played the support role. His first major stint was with Brazilian organization, T Show, in 2017, for whom he played for a year. He then joined the renowned South American team, paiN Gaming in March 2019 until the organization disbanded in April 2020.
During his tenure with paiN Gaming, he participated and finished in the 9-12th place in the MDL Disneyland Paris Major, 13-16th place in EPICENTER Major 2019 and 13-16th place in DreamLeague S13.
Along with some former paiN Gaming teammates, he participated in the SA 2021 DPC Season 1: Open Qualifiers with team ‘One Million’. However, they were unable to progress to the closed qualifier.
